Hacking 3DS hacking newbie

Hey, I used to have an R4 for my DS and I was thinking about getting another Flash card for my 3DS and had a few questions.

1. I know I may be killed for this but can the 3DS be bricked in any way what-so-ever?
2. Can anyone suggest a good brand? Should I stick with R4 or is there a better brand?
3. Is there a lot of security on the new games? I know from the DS that there were some games that were really hard to get patches for

Yea I read both but the first one is really unclear seeing as there's about 100 people saying one thing or another.

Nobody has ever had their 3DS bricked from using a flash cart.

And yes, there's no way to play 3DS ROMs. ROM dumps aren't just for free games, but that's another subject.
