WE ARE TALKING ABOUT YELLOW8 OMG !i dont think he wants to put his reputation in danger.I actually think this is 100% real!stay tuned!

Perhaps VMM used the argument of "authority" here, but I sure as hell haven't - I directed Dr Pikachu to resources where he will be able to extend his knowledge about how game cartridges work - to Wikipedia. I also directed him to 3DSBrew, which features detailed information about the cartridge and how it's built and interfaced with.

As for the skepticism, it comes naturally to anyone that it's not the game booting itself, it's the system booting the game - it's the cartridge that piggybacks on the console, not the other way around. The game (or its portion necessary for its function at any given time) is copied to RAM from where it is executed, assets are accessed via the Data Buses. That's how cartridges work, that's how they always worked.
See, this is good. Thank you Foxi4 for providing a thoughtful reply.

That's a good guess as to why they were skeptical, but I think that the best route is to ask them why they are skeptical of your information specifically. I have no issue with you by the way, just what VMM said.

We gave him all the sources he needed and more,
and of course, when I said that, I'm obviously considering that these doctors aren't from the same office.
That would be extremely stupid.

But I guess you're here just for trolling
Disregarding me as a troll would be an easy way to disregard what I'm saying, but no, I'm not trolling.
Whether the doctors are from the same office or not is somewhat irrelevant. To this person, they are not believing the information that is being provided to them. While it is unlikely that the information is incorrect (given that they are consulting a doctor), it is still not certain that it is correct. In my example, drinking gasoline is obviously incorrect advice, but trust me, there have been many cases of multiple doctors making incorrect diagnosis's on the same patient.

Ultimately, I'm just saying that you shouldn't expect people to simply believe you based on your occupation or status. Not should they be expected to.

So many f***ing useless posts in this thread. I just want to know more about the exploit. What it can actually do.
So he edited a save game which ran some code off the SD card which only edited the text for the error screen.

He says it can't use any of the "gfx service" so who knows if this would be able to run actual homebrew or anything meaningful.
This actually reminds of the text edit another hacker did, this one;

Which ended up being useless.

There's still hope for this hack, but you guys seem to be jumping to conclusions.

I may be wrong, but I think what he meant by "not being able to use the "gfx service" was that during the error messages, he can't (currently) do more than just display text on the bottom screen like that, but provided this is all real, it should mean he has some sort of access to system data.

I'm remaining passively skeptical for now. Neat, yes, but without certain proof, I'm not getting my panties in a bunch over anything. I hadn't heard of yellows8 before now, but after looking at the hackmii website it would appear he goes quite back, so I don't doubt the credibility. I wouldn't be surprised if something had actually been achieved, look at what neimod did (2nd pic you posted), but whether it'll provide full homebrew loading capabilities is another question altogether.

Still, like I said, neat as hell if this is legit. It's awesome to see some bit of progress being made on the console.

I feel sorry for neimo's project but i think if this is real(which i believe it is) nobody will donate if they can get it for free

Also, last post I make in this train wreck:

Well, the time embed didn't work. 1:32

In other words, "I'm not a part of your system man" "Welcome to the real world jackass"

My sentiments when.

Yep. I'm going to bed.

You know, the only reason that I posted it was to try getting back on the topic.
There is no reason to keep this endless discussion.

You got this thing all wrong
Did you see that message on it context?!
I didn't show it to Dr Pikachu, neither are saying "Trust me, I'm a programmer",
or using authority argument.

I quoted Yatashi because he said that we were just discussing who's the smartest.

I posted that as an answer like: I'm not trying to show off, I'm trying to convince him, because I know I'm right.

STOP TRYING TO BRING IT BACK FROM THE GRAVE

There's only one difference here - the first image shows an edit of RAM contents. The 3DS was rigged to a RAM setup external to the console entirely. This hack does it natively on an unmodified system. Hyuuuge difference there. ;)

Reading this thread is a bit like watching a playground for retarded kids. This needs to be closed.

Not to be a downer for the homebrew community, but hopefully this will kick Nintendo up the ass and give people a reason not to run the exploit.
