Hello everyone!

After taking a good hard look at everything friend related I found out why I cannot see my friends online.

The reason is because my EmuNAND and 4.5 System NAND have different friend codes. I had added my friends locally before when I was using 4.5 with the Gateway (without generating a friend code, since it was a completely offline device before EmuNAND came into the picture), and after I changed from System 4.5 to EmuNAND a friend code was generated on the EmuNAND for my console. Later on when I got booted off EmuNAND, my 4.5 "partition" gained internet access for the first time and thus generated a friend code for SystemNAND as well. This means my friends needed to delete me from their systems and add me all over again with the EmuNAND friend code.

So if you have in fact added your friends on 4.5, and gained internet access on your 3DS for the first time using EmuNAND, remember that your friend code in SystemNAND and when entering EmuNAND are completely different and that your friends might have the old "friend code" you have on the 4.5 NAND.

Hopefully this might be helpful for everyone who might have this problem elsewhere. This problem occurs only if EmuNAND generates a friend code first, and then on SystemNAND afterwards.

The reason is because EmuNAND and 4.5 System NAND have different friend codes. I had added my friends locally before when I was using 4.5 with the Gateway, and after I changed from System 4.5 to EmuNAND it changed the friend code, but kept all my friends intact. This means my friends needed to delete me from their systems and add me all over again with the EmuNAND friend code.

So if you have in fact added your friends on 4.5, remember that your friend code MIGHT CHANGE when entering EmuNAND!

Hopefully this might be helpful for everyone who might have this problem elsewhere. The problem is EmuNAND changing the friend code.

I don't fully understand your situation. Are you saying that you created the emuNAND and then you kept using the real NAND for other stuff including adding your friends and that was the reason they didn't appear on emuNAND? Because that would be comprehensible.
If that's not the case, then I don't know what went wrong. I haven't added anyone on emuNAND, all of my friends were added before I created it and I have had no problems at all.

If that's not the case, then I don't know what went wrong. I haven't added anyone on emuNAND, all of my friends were added before I created it and I have had no problems at all.

Basically it seems like when I created the EmuNAND, a completely new friend code for the EmuNAND was created. I added my friends back on 4.5, which is a completely different friend code than what I have on the EmuNAND version.

So if I go on 4.5 I have one friend code, and on EmuNAND I have another completely different friend code. The 4.5 one is deprecated and not used anymore (since I always use EmuNAND for everything), but was the System NAND friend code my friends have registered on their 3DS which is why they never appeared as "online" for me.

So for some reason, I have two different friend codes.

Theory:

The reason behind this might be because I never went online before I used EmuNAND, thus a friend code was never generated for 4.5. When I started using EmuNAND a code was generated for the first time. When I was booted off EmuNAND for the first time, my internet connection was enabled on 4.5 for the very first time and generated a completely different friend code which wasn't transferred between EmuNAND and SystemNAND.

Thus I got one friend code for SystemNAND and one for EmuNAND.

If I had gone online and generated a friend code on 4.5 first and then created a EmuNAND afterwards, it would have transferred the friend code to the EmuNAND. However in this case, it was the opposite way where the EmuNAND was generated first, and SystemNAND later.

That's interesting. BRB I'll check mine... nope, I have the same in both "NANDs"-

Most likely because you had already had your friend code generated before transferring to EmuNAND. While mine was generated on the EmuNAND first, and then on SystemNAND later on.

If I had gotten a friend code generated on SystemNAND first before creating the EmuNAND, mine would be correctly transferred as well.

I have made a entry about it in the 3DS hacking FAQ inside the "Troubleshooting" section. Feel free to edit or remove it if the language is unclear.

Hmm, I am on 4.4 atm, and playing Fire Emblem.

How do I go about purchasing DLC? Would that require me to use the eshop/emunand? Can someone please advise?

Thanks.

I am about go go buy a brand new retail cartridge for pokemon x/y.
I have 7.1 Emunand.

1. It can play it in classic mode correct?
2. I heard there are issues with saves??
3. Once used on emunand I cannot use it on a "non gateway" 3ds without that save being corrupted, correct?
4. There will be no way to extract the game save from the cartridge right? to back it up. nor in the foreseeable future?

just my 2 cent, dont buy pokemon right now. gateway released a video and expect it public next few days so you would be wasting money. it most likely won't work online but all other functions should work maybe local trades too

Yeah, it is. I went and bought it because I was tired of waiting, and the trading capabilities are very helpful in Gameplay. "Wondertrade" randomly trades a Pokemon for another, and it's great for filling the Pokedex.

One question; in their video, the GW showed Pokemon Y with working saving. But does this really proof anything? MT-Card did the same with Animal-Crassing, although their card doesn't support it.
Multirom wasn't even showed in a video (...), where do we know they just want to make some money and then drop the project?

Haven't been following Gateway for a month. Got 2.01b on it and stuck a DS game. To upgrade to 2.02b and 7.1 firmware do I do the following:
-Update blue cart / Launcher.dat in red cart
-Load blue cart
-Load GW mode and update in GW mode in system update in settings?

I know I could probably search it but just looking for a quick yes :)

No, they didn't show such a thing. They only showed the game running until the title screen.

If you want or do not want to believe Gateway it is something up to you, but they have proven that they are a reliable team since the very beginning of their development work.

Ok, that's the difference. The GW-Team really supports NandSave, thank you for the clarification!

Like most people here I (want to) believe them, but reading that the FPGA can't be updated or Multirom will never work made me rethink the whole thing. It's taking way too long, hope you'll be right.

Yeah, they aren't going to give you any special information. Just have to wait for them to post info to their site. Chances are the next thing they post is a download link to 2.0 final anyway.

There's no guarantee that any flashcart manufacturer will be here tomorrow to support their product, look at team cyclops, not one word from them since their last update.
