Playing Shovel Knight. I updated everything just this Summer, both Luma and System Update.

Cut to today, playing Shovel Knight. Leave game. Get SYSTEM update prompt. Now this is my boot screen. System not working.

Godmode 9 installed, on Luma 10.2. So can hopefully do anything not requiring userland access to fix this. But need to know how

Thanks for the quick replies. Getting my SD card out now

Edit: Ok, now the system just turns the blue light on and off, not even getting the screen to turn on.

You might need to also update your godmode9 as I did (do it)
Help me understand? If I can't even press Start to get into GM9, how will updating it help me? Will do so anyway, no point in not updating, but I have no interactivity with the system ATM beyond the powerbutton. Can't even bring up any payloads with Start or Select

Ok, so do I just need to have GM9 copy the boot.firm from my SD to CTRNAND and overwrite to update?

Edit: Thanks, I appear to be back up and running. Can access both Homebrew CIAs and actual games as well.

Thanks guys. Since I couldn't seem to turn on the old GM9 even after the update to Luma, I likely wouldn't have thought updating it would help without you guys.

you could use the boot.firm to load into it directly instead of luma, but there's a script in there under pilaect's iirc that will put the boot.firm from the sd card to the ctrnand. I can't remember what to do if the sd card isn't being read, which is what I think might be happening.

this is all I done did!
https://3ds.hacks.guide/godmode9-usage.html#updating-godmode9
Instructions
  1. Power off your device
  2. Insert your SD card into your computer
  3. Copy GodMode9.firm from the GodMode9 .zip to the /luma/payloads/ folder on your SD card
  4. Copy the gm9 folder from the GodMode9 .zip to the root of your SD card
  5. Reinsert your SD card into your device

Thanks, once GM9 was running again a simple copy-paste of boot.firm from SD to CTRNAND fixed everything. I'm back up and running
