Hacking 3DS CFW installation / downgrade from 10.6

Hey everybody, I'm very new to this whole thing and I'm very confused as to how to go about getting a custom firmware on my 3DS. I have been reading up on things but can't find any concrete way to go about getting a custom firmware on my 3DS seeing as it's on 10.6

I read that it needs to be downgraded from 10.6 but in order to do so you need the homebrew app and in order to get that you need to exploit the system or whatever by having one of 3 games: LoZ: OoT, Super Smash, or Cubic Ninja. Is this necessary in order to downgrade and install CFW or is there another way around that? I just need someone to tell me how to do all this. Really don't want to buy any of those games in order to do so. PLEASE HELP. THANK YOU!!!!

You'll need one of those games. The cheapest option is OoT, because it's 20 dollars for the game plus a 20 dollar powersaves.

Or just sell your 3ds and buy another one with an older firmware (and so browserhax access!). And relink your nintendo account with the emunand.

Yeah, I know, but for a standalone exploit, powersave or a friend with homebrew/powersave is needed!! (or a flashcard?!... err ok)

Ah yeh or mayby the ds flashing but is tricky.
Or wait for gateway until they release a 10.6/7 downgrade.
If they won't show the downgrade I'll use the secondary hax.
