Hacking 3DS asking me to connect to format?

Dude, I need to format, but this stupid 3ds says to connect. Is it wanting me to update too? How about have some iced tea and swing on the swingset with it.

No, that ain't happening, just like updating.

It will connect to the internet to unlink the NNID from the console but it will not update it.
