Hacking 3DS+ and playing online

Hey guys,

I am currently on version 10.6.0 and was thinking of getting a 3DS+, but I hear that Sky 3DS+ supports only .3ds files.
I do want to play online also, and the only way would be through CIA files.

What are the ways that I can play online with Sky 3ds+?

Or if there are other alternative ways to play online, please let me know.

Just downgrade, saves you a lot from buying a sky3ds+. But to downgrade, you need cubic ninja or an ocarina of time cartridge(you need another 3ds with access to homebrew to use the latter)

If you buy a Sky3DS you can simulate a Cubic Ninja cartridge and use that to access homebrew -> downgrade -> CFW -> free cia's!

Since you're on 10.6 your only way is actually Cubic Ninja and Ocarina of Time. The Sky3DS+ is probably cheaper than a Cubic Ninja cartridge nowadays. And for OoThax you either need a Power Saves or an already hacked 3DS.

You can play online with Sky3DS+ but you need (private) headers.

You don't need another 3DS if you have cubic Ninja

Nope, with Cubic Ninja no 2nd 3DS required. From Cubic Ninja you can go to Homebrew and then downgrade from there. You will not lose your data. You can create an EmuNAND which is an exact copy of your sysNAND so everything is copied and you will lose nothing.

Any chance you could provide a guide on how to do this?
I'm kind of new to the whole hacking thing so as many resources would be really helpful!

Be careful on the downgrade! Make sure to follow every step! I tried to downgrade my new3ds 10.6 using Sky3ds+ (with cubic ninja) yesterday and it failed halfway during the downgrade process. now i have a bricked 3ds...

Nope, if i try to access recovery mode it seems as if it tries to access the settings screen for a split second and ends up with a black screen The only solution is to hardmod or buy a new one

Scary, Well better of doing a hardmod. Quite expensive to buy a new one.

If you plan on downgrade, just grab the cheapest pre-owned sky3ds (but be careful with the 10 limit of red button). No point of getting a more expensive + one
