For me, it isn't pirating. It's cultural preservation. I have EVERY game (NTSC, NTSC-J). Not just the ones I like. To be honest, I barely play games. I mainly play Minecraft(modded) and EQ2.

Yep, so far, u only can, using a gateway. And yes, I do mean a legit cart and not as a rom. XD

I actually knew that, but i dont think you need a gateway do you? I think you just need some of their code right? And a 3DS compatible DS flashcart. But im not on 4.5.

Oh yeah true! I keep forgetting that. Silly me. XD Can't wait to start importing jpn games XD

Well. Region free will require kernel access as that's some pretty low level stuff. Hence smea will not release region free as that allows other coders to easily create a rom loader. You'll be hard pressed to find anyone else who would release region free since you know "piracy's bad m'kay"

Off Topic, Permafrost Server Guild Friendship is Magic (Lv.6) I'm the only member ^-^

At least the 3DS has hope that one day; in the next five years, it'll be hacked. The Vita doesn't have that going for it.

guys.. smean =! 3DS scene
If not smea then others will release it. It's just a matter of time.
Honestly, SJW is the worst thing that could happen to a hacking scene.

Well, he's not the only dev in the scene but there's only one type of devs in this scene and that is whatever the type that the devs currently are.

If there are more open minded and more "in the spirit of hacking" devs, I have not heard about them yet.

don't think SJW is even remotely the right word
Maybe CJW (corporate justice warriors)?
Or more accurately just White Hats
I love the term Corporate Justice Warriors. That'd also include all those whiney "PIRACY! OH NOES!!!1 PIRATES KILL LITTLE BABY SEALS!!" pricks.

We just need devs and people in general who are not pessimistic and cynical enough to believe that users don't deserve freedom over their devices.

During the PSP days, things have a very distinct US vs THEM mindset, sort of like the US court system where it was defendant vs prosecutor. Hackers did what we could to empower the user as much as we could, and the corporation did everything they could to limit them. In that way, things worked out fine for both parties. PSP flourished for both, and you have to keep in mind the exploits came within around a year after the system was released.

Heh, good. Use it and maybe it'll catch on :p
