Hardware 2DS Mario Kart Bundle firmware version?

I'm buying Christmas presents and I'm thinking of hacking a system for a friend who already owns an o3DS. I'm looking at the mario kart 2DS bundle, and wondering if it's on low enough firmware to hack without the hassle of DSiWare. (I'm going to hack a 11.1 2DS, but it's a lot of waiting for the system transfer to come back!)

mine was 6.x, I updated to 10.3 and followed the a9lh guide at the time.
You should be fine.
