2ds applet freezes when pressing home

I just got my first ever 2ds and got to mode it not long ago it's a JP ver that I changed its region to US and everything worked fine all the games and apps in the main menu except for the applet in the top the (notiv, friends list, etc) and I looked for a solution but didn't find a definite answer with clear instructions
hopefully someone could guide me through it

Well my friend the OP did say the notification list and the friend list ect. So I think they mean all the applets. Which would be.

Notes
Friends list
Notifications
Internet
And Miiverse.

It there any error messages that show up when it freezes? Or is it a freeze and have to fully restart to get back?

This usually only happens to me sometimes after I close out of a YouTube video or have just watched a big video on the internet browser, but it usually goes to the home menu after 15 seconds or so. Maybe the memory is filled up and it is getting stuck trying to clear it?

thank you all for your comments I solved the problem by restoring the original nand from a backup I made before changing the region
