IMO, the best tetris ever has to be Tetris Tengen (the Nes version with 2 player)

PocketNes + Tetris Tengen = The Best Tetris on GBA

Tetris DX for GBC is the best, but it lacks the original music from Tetris for GB. The tune that you hear in your head after an hours playing...
I don't know why all these companys try to recreate such a flawless game to start with.

Cheers,

And you know this... how?
because:

1) all those delays don't make it better (it's not turned-over like HL, it's just pushed around dozen times)
2) the story is... crappy... they completly mixed things over (so far as you know it already)
3) characters have been stolen from older HL mods (comercial or not) which doesn't make a game better at all (stealing has never been good)
4) all the hype and announcements go into the graphics and physics department... story and gameplay usually are left behind in that (see Deus-Ex 2 as an example for this)

otherwise... i'm very convinced it will suk.
- Deus-Ex was a blast, DX2 was just mighty crap
- HL has been a blast (especially for modders), HL2 will (most probably) bee crap.

It's like this tetris will always remain a classic as it was a game that captured the hearts of many when it was released and still does today (for some people). It's like cards i guess, it will live on forever and many people don't need to be in the mood to play cards. Its gonna keep appearing just in new forms, this one however is very much plain like the original. lol expect to see this on the ds, except this time you drag the blocks around with your stylus

Ok... Explain Rollercoaster Tycoon and Rollercoaster Tycoon 2. FFX and FFX Part 2. Timesplitters and Time Splitters 2. Not EVERY sequel will lick balls compared to its prequel.

Depends on where I am. In the bus or the John, I'd pick tetris anyday over Halflife 2. Btw, it much better to have quick blast of tetris instead of upgrading my pc in order to run halflife2. Halflife will probably be outdated in a few years, tetris will still remain.

And for the best version, I would vote tetris advance (j). I think it has taken over Tetris DX crown. Except that the endless mode tends to be not so hard in the higher levels compared to DX.

Tetris worlds sucks anyway it has no save for the highscore. How lame is that. Its like having a car but not being able to drive in it.

Go for tetris advance any time of day.

Lol, Are you saying that FFX 2 didnt suck? It was charlies angels with slightly more storyline.

Anywho, I think Dragonlord definately has a point, since he kept his references within the FPS area of gaming. It does seem that even fewer sequels in that genre are ever as good as their predececors.

OMG. TETRIS OR CHRONO TRIGGER??? Hopefully you guys will think that the newer games are a lot better than the outdated ones. I went to my local game store and it didn't even have this game. (Probably did but Pre-played only)

Well I don't think newer should mean that a game is inherently better than an old game. You really don't need me to list the recent bad games, and then compare them too "outdated" good ones, do you? I think every generation has it's good and bad entries, and while time can make a game that was once great appear worse, it never truely makes it "bad."

It's always futile to wonder why someone will like something you find no value in, there are people here who like games that were considered bad, even back then. Heck I like Chaos Legion, and most people don't like that game.

As for Half Life 2 or Tetris? I'd play Puyo Puyo over both. Fever mode forever!

I don't know about "best game ever" claim, but personally i've had a tetris burnout.. "brick game" pretty much made me puke out blocks when near tetris or any derivative..

Both Tetris Advance and Tetris Worlds are really awful versions of Tetris. Truly..I don't see how anyone could enjoy playing them.

The best versions of Tetris are Tetris (NES, Nintendo), Tetris (GB Mono, Nintendo), and Tetris & Dr. Mario (SNES, Nintendo).

Tetris DX was *awesome*, but suffers from a major gameplay bug, in that you can endlessly rotate pieces once they hit the bottom - making the game far too easy in any mode.
