Again,
o3ds, more likely than not will work. You also might get a softbrick but thats fine.
n3ds, wait for a safe method.
(Has o3ds and it downgraded fine)

What's a softbrick? Is it different from a full brick, I'm guessing?

So, how many bricks have happened using Julians sysUpdater? I had a semi brick, but that's nothing. As long as native_firm isn't written til the end, it shouldn't cause any real big issues, right?

I have seen several people with permanent bricks asking how to change their themes lol

afaik, all o3ds bricks are people being stupid.
n3ds is a different story.
Guys, just stop telling people to update or not. o3ds, yes. n3ds, no.

seems like the success rate is about 80% overall. that number could be better if people didn't use old sysupdaters or wrong downgrade packs. still a good idea to wait a few more days though.

When a piece of software prevents access to other parts of the system.
IE: Downgrade 2DS to 4.5 = Softbrick.
Why? Because it asks you to use the 3d slider when you attempt to set up the system. You can't do anything.

I really need to look at the O3DS Xl downgrade tutos... I've never actually attempted hardmodding before.

It may take a while for a fool-proof method, but I agree.. A lot of issues were user error.. So, yeah, hold off until a safe method comes out.

No one is telling people what to do.

We are giving recomendations, if people still want to try a downgrade it is up to them.

Yeah it's just a few times I saw people going "DONT DOWNGRADE YOU ARE SO STUPID OMG JUST WAIT"
If someone wants to do it, support them and tell them how to do it.

I will be performing a downgrade later today and report a brick or success. :)

The problem is that people are being careless and jumping the gun, I guarantee that's why most of the bricks have happened. Looking at the results spreadsheet, there's an extremely high success rate on both old and new models (remember that there's always a vocal minority, in this case the bricks). Myself and several friends have made it to 9.2 just fine, but again we triple-checked EVERYTHING before proceeding.

Use a clean formatted SD, verify your ZIP type and MD5, and use one of the "safer" builds (we all used Julian's, despite it taking 100+ attempts to boot for a couple folks) and you should be fine. People are overreacting as a result of other people being careless. Is anything guaranteed? No, of course not, but this is much less of a dice roll than people are playing it out as.

I think the only way you're going to curb the same questions being asked over and over again is to ban the accounts asking the same questions for a few days and lock the threads. Everything has been answered just search people

My N3DS works flawless after the downgrade and everything I wanted, is working as intended.

You just need to be careful, and doublecheck everything. And someone who installs the O3DS firmware .cia´s...well not the programs fault.
