Hacking Question 1.0 fw and modchip+emunand

as the title says i own a 1.0 fw switch with zelda game cartridge.
i think i've waited too long for a real emunand on atmosphere, so i want to move on and have a try with a chip+sx os 2.x with emunand support.
i have basically 2 questions:

1 i'd like to use the trinket m0 but i'm not sure if it can fit on the metal shield (under the fan) without any cut. is it possible to do so? or i have to wait for the switchme (in my country will be available in december)?
2 what about the cart slot update? i've read if i update (the emunand) to latest fw, it will update also the reader. So basically if i boot into ofw i cannot use any longer any game cart? or it will happens ONLY if i try to load any physical game on latest fw?

Cutting the shield isn`t 100% vital. But if you ever need to get to your consoles motherboard, you need to desolder your chip. And the RESET button becomes too easy to press.

Your warranty is void. (unless you have a NAND backup and never go online). Cut it!

Or buy a new shield from eBay and cut that.

It will be updated. Unless u stop it from being updated with Hekate.

but the card update will be done in ChoidujourNX? or as soon the updated emunand will boot?

the only way to fix it is to edit the uf2 files if i want to use the mode2 on chip, or edit hekate settings on sd if i use mode1 ?
now i need to find some docs on hekate settings

You can't use hekate and emunand as this is a feature of sxos only. From what I heard the gamecart slot update triggers when you try to load a game cart on a newer firmware so if you don't use it should be safe, but wait for people that knows more than me and has personal experience about this. However even if your gc slot gets updated it will not work anymore on 1.0 but I don't think that this will be a issue for a future cold boot hack (as this is the only reason you don't want to officially update).
