Hardware WD Elements or WD My Passport?

I use a 500GB WD Elements as my main drive, and I also use 320GB WD My Passport, all refurbished with 6-month warranty from a seller on eBay for about $60 each. Out of the >20 that I've bought for my customers, only one went bad. I filed an RMA and WD sent me a brand-new 400GB drive to replace it.

Hacking Gamecube Controller not Working in SSBB

I modified a Wii using xzxero's guide, so I have cIOS 202, Hermes' 222 & 223 v.4, and Waninkoko's 249 & 250 v.14. I'm also running WiiFlow v1.1 (249), which by the way, is not loading any games for me. This is very weird, because this same set-up has worked for like 3 other Wii's. Also, USB...

Wow markehmus you really went over the line. Stuff happens, you don't have to go all insane. I know it's frustrating to break something, but, hey, we're human, we all make mistakes. Modchipcentral has been my go-to supplier for close to 100 modchips. They've never disappointed me. Also, you...

Hacking Very Odd Error with all discs and backup loaders

No one has run across this error? Could it have something to do with the connection of the DVD drive? Help me out here please... I've never had this happen to me with any of the ~90 Wii's I've modded.

Ok I'm having a huge problem with my Wii. I'm on firmware version 4.2U, and anytime I insert an original disc, whether it's Wii or Gamecube, I get this error with no error code: An error has occurred. Press the Eject Button and remove the disc, then turn the Wii console off and refer to the...

Hacking Very Odd Error with all discs and backup loaders

Ok I "virginized" my Wii following this guide: http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/other-stuff/virgin And I followed xzxero's Upgrade to 4.2 section, (and even the Modify 4.2 section) and I'm still getting the error: An error has occurred. Press the Eject Button and remove the disc, then...

Hacking Very Odd Error with all discs and backup loaders

No, I've seen the "Error 002" many times. This is different. "Error 002" never appears on screen, and even when the fix is set to enable on the Backup loader, it still doesn't work. Plus, it's even happening when running original discs from the Disc Loader channel. I'm pretty sure CiosCorp...

Hacking Very Odd Error with all discs and backup loaders

Thank you for your responses. I actually restored the NAND using BootMii after the format, so I'm back where I started. I'm away from my Wii, bust as soon as I can, I'll revirginize my Wii following the guide, and I'll follow xzxero's upgrade to 4.2 guide. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Hacking Very Odd Error with all discs and backup loaders

I guess it must have been CiosCorp that screwed it up. And it's funny, because I ran the ciosCorp uninstaller and still nothing. Also, i did a system format via the Wii settings and I still got nothing. Isn't that supposed to fix it? Anyway, I guess I'll revirginize my Wii following the guide...

Hacking Very Odd Error with all discs and backup loaders

I was able to update to 4.2 through Nintendo, I didn't lose any of the homebrew. I then followed the "Modify any Wii" guide from "Modify 4.2" to "Downgrade to 4.1". I still have the same issue. Could it be the DVD drive that I'm using?? Is the DVD drive needed to run backup loaders?

Hacking Very Odd Error with all discs and backup loaders

Hey guys, I'm running a 4.2U Wii. Seemingly out of nowhere, anytime I want to run a game from the hard drive, I get an error as follows: "An error has occurred. Press the Eject Button and remove the disc, then turn the Wii console off and refer to the Wii Operations Manual for help...

Western Digital Passport Essentials also work great. I have 4 of them lying around for customers and whatnot and I've never had a problem with them. Plus, their warranty is great. I have a brand-new in box 400GB one that I don't really need, PM me if interested.

Hacking black screen with 4.2 (USA) title in the left corner

This doesn't seem like a brick, it seems like a hack in Preloader is causing this issue. It's happened to me before. Check to make sure that "Force Recovery Mode" in Preloader is disabled.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
