    Black/White isn't the first game to utilize website connectivity. There was a game out a while ago called Treasure World in which you were able to update your sort of profile page with stuff from your game. It wasn't able to detect flash carts or anything and worked perfectly.

    Quests. From the moment you reach the Abbey you are able to unlock Armamentalist and Gladiator through quests. The others aren't available until a bit later, and Luminary is not available until the post game.

    Recipe locations don't even really matter. You don't need an item's recipe to make the item and once you make the item it gets added to the Alchenomicon anyway, but as elixerdream said, it probably is in Zere Rocks.
