    The next updates on my Quake 3 lineup will mostly be quality of life updates. (almost) all ports will get their release on the same day.
    But to put it shortly:
    • Wii will have a slight memory optimization and will have its graphics improved thanks to it.
    • PS3, WiiU. More specifically Quake 3, Team Arena and Open Arena will run better with bots since qagame will be native from now on.
    • PS4 will have access to more memory while also supporting gyro controls using Dualshock 4.
    No PSP updates planned for now.

    I got this PoC of Quake 3 online-only client up to the main menu... on GameCube. Not even demos would load. Everything just starves the MEM1+ARAM to death. If someone wants the source and wants to continue this hell of a port, be my guest. 40 MB is just too much to work with. Don't ask me why I thought this was a good idea to begin with. I'm full of bad ideas lately.

    So, I'd like to ask this question in this forum because this upcoming month I got a "show and tell" where we have to show a project that had AI involved "somehow", explain what we accomplished and such. It's a scored project, so my choice DOES really matter there. Now, which Quake 3 port do I bring? My soul is saying to bring the Wii port, but the PS3 and PS4 ports are also pretty neat in their own merits.

    The prime example though, is the Wii U port, which had a whole different approach than my previous ports.

    I'm assuming you had to deal with PowerPC intructions for the Wii port?

    I don't know anything about the PS3 and Wii U architecture though.

    All 3 had PowerPC instructions to deal with, and ioQuake3 had those in its repo so I was fairly safe on that aspect. But Wii is the one that needed most of the work because even though it had the most mature SDK of the 3, the memory was a huge roadblock for many things.

    PS3 was much easier to get up and running but it needed a lot of polish to reach a playable framerate
    Wii U was the most difficult of the 3 because the SDK wasn't mature as much as I'd hoped. That does explain why there aren't many WiiU homebrews though.

    However, Wii can prove how a homemade port has the same performance of the end product in its "Mac counterpart". (Yes, the Wii is a Mac G3 in disguise)

    Yeah, I know very little about Wii dev. I've been moderately interested in it since 2016 but haven't really looked into it properly.
    Very nice, yes. You should talk about the port you've been more invested with.

    With my current Quake 3 ports being close to completion (aka getting to the point where I don't know what to add, or what to improve/fix besides what I can currently achieve):

    First of all, my Quake 3 port for WiiU will get the Elite Force update once my Half Life 1 port is in good shape. People can survive a few more weeks without an Elite Force build in there. Right after, all my ports (Wii, PS3, PS4, WiiU) will all receive the same updates at once, to avoid one feeling "out of date" compared to the other. But not that there will be a lot to add besides small improvements here and there.

    Second, my Quake 3 port for the Xbox One is the one I left behind. It was a port made mainly for novelty (there's the Xbox Series port already) and I have no further plans in touching it.

    Gordon Freeman in the flesh. Or rather, in the PS3 port. I took the liberty of relieving you of your PS3 store; most of them were Sony's property. As for the port, I think you’ve earned it.

    Besides Pokémon Emerald on PS2 (which needs just some polish + some audio fixes) and something I'm working at on PS3 which I don't really want to talk about for now... as well as still polishing my Quake 3 ports, I'm not sure if my next project would be porting the other Quake games, or I'll look up which decomps look interesting enough to warrant a port.

    Shame that Unreal Tournament's source got obtained in a not-so-legal way. I would've loved to see another crossplay game.

    If not emulation, it's got to be Game Boy Player with GBI or a modded GBA with video out. I consider DS/3DS playing GBA games emulation, so can't be that

    Given my current situation, and due to some "internal" matters, I decided to drop my Quake 3 port on WiiU to focus extremely on the Wii and PS3 ports because I need them fully optimized as much as I can by the end of summer. In case someone's interested in finishing them, I'm willing to share the source code. It can boot up to the main menu, but the renderer needs work.

    Having forced data types from one to another using void pointers, I can confirm it works, but it's very ugly.

    It's funny that most of my irl friends whenever they come at my place never want to play retro games, but most of my online friends are like "I'm gonna fucking rob you"

    Yeah but what I mean a websites going to have more of your related interests like I doubt a Elvis fan website would have that much in common with a 50 cent fan and that's cool. May find some actual people off those websites but do be cautious if meeting up with anyone online. But still personal friends don't always have to like everything you do for you to tolerate them could just be you like each other's personality which I'd take over anything any day.

    Yeah, I pretty much have nobody to invite over to play to begin with. I can feel that. Really, I managed maybe an hour or two of couch co-op all my life. :sad:
