I might look into it, though this site is so poorly designed that I'm not sure it would transfer over okay. Click the github link and you'll see why lmfao

I could definitely set up feeds though. My site uses jekyll so it wouldn't be all too hard.

This sounds insane, but what if the DS was used to test the Wii hardware? Meet "TWL USG Sequencer Inspection." This is a factory testing program which can't be fully explored due to needing special hardware to interface with a Wii mobo, but from what I can do it appears to have tests for video/audio output, voltage, NAND/SD, wireless, and more.

Very interesting! What could it do with the special hardware (probably going to test points)?
    Any options to access NAND?

I'm still wondering how Nintendo repaired software bricks on Wii.

What I hate is that, after all these years consoles being out of production, Nintendo still treat such stuff as important company secrets. Come on, let us service the old stuff ourselves -- now that you don't do it anymore.

    Surprisingly very little.
    "00-06 enable NAND loader"
    "00-07 enable SD to NAND"

I've got 4 versions (v13.2, v12.2, v7.2, and v3.0) but only one version will boot (v13.2). Makes it hard to know what it's for.

Though forest of illusion removed v12.2, v7.2, and v.30 a little while ago, so perhaps those were bad dumps?

I got them all to boot through no$gba! It seems v3.0 is actually for testing DSis (it also specifies TWL dev units), but the rest are definitely Wii.

    Gonna look through these tonight.

[1/2] Aw man, I'm late for dev app of the week!
Ever heard of Mic Tester? It was presumably a factory test app to check the mic and speakers. There are 2 versions dumped. One is very simple and just plays a tone in the left or right speaker.

True! I love the style of factory apps. Have some more screenshots!
The one asking to change a switch is one of the mic testers. Afaik you just place the motherboard of the console in this big box with connectors, and then you turn on/off parts of the hardware with switches. Sadly not having those boxes means it's impossible to see what's past this screen.

I wonder how the contents of those boxes interface with the hardware then, maybe it's far-fetched but possible to recreate the behaviour

Ah yes, $180+ for a single 512kb flash chip... very reasonable!

At that point I might as well just order a 10 pack for $20 ($2 per chip is a bit much in my opinion but oh well). I don't want to know anyone from new jersey.

    reminds me of this

You should run a shop fixing Nintendo hardware.
@KleinesSinchen as I think you might be interested in this, I GOT THE IQUE FIRMWARE ON A NON-IQUE UNIT! Afaik I'm the first person to have done it so I am buzzing with excitement. It's normally impossible because the non-iQue firmware flash chip isn't big enough to hold iQue firmware. I managed to replace the chip for a bigger capacity one and make it work.
This week's dev app is... WiFi Icon! This was just used to test a flag that shows a little icon on the home screen for WiFi enabled games. When run, the app displays 2 blue screens. (checked the source code and confirmed it was meant to do nothing more)

A borked update has removed my desktop and broken a ton of stuff. I tried installing my desktop back but that failed. I'll try starting fresh with a different distro, but until that finishes I'm stuck with a void.

A friend of mine just ordered 70 DS lite wifi boards... it was only $24 USD for all of them, but what are you going to do with 70!?. If that order goes through I might try to grab a few from him.
    rvtr
    rvtr
Or reflash the bad wifi boards. I want them just to play around with. Could be cool to have an individual card for each proto firmware, and some people and I were talking about possibly getting ique firmware on the wifi board.
    rvtr
    rvtr
The ique firmware is 512kb as apposed to the normal DS firmware which is 256kb. The wifi boards use the same save chip as is found in all cartridges with 256kb saves (afaik). Maybe it'd be possible to swap out the 256kb chip on the wifi board with a 512kb chip from a game and have ique firmware run on non-ique hardware.

I'm not sure if I could find real ique wifi cards for sale, so this is the next best thing.

A good price. But... 70 of them... that is more than enough. He could try to sell a few individually and make profit.

New week, new dev app! This right here is TWL EC file utility. It was intended for developers who had trouble connecting to the DSi Shop. It can view ec.cfg, delete ec.cfg, shop.log and dev.kp, and delete itself. It was released only to a certain few developers and they were told that they must not share it, and that they must delete it after use.

I made this after the many different misspellings of "unlaunch" were brought up. Some of these make no sense to me.
:ohnoes: In just a few days I'm going to have the first exam in my life. I'm one of the very few people in my grade level that took a special program last year which didn't have exams. Everyone else is prepared and I don't know what to do.

How long is it? I have done many in my life but once did a three hour one having been away from exams for 3 years or so by that point... my poor hand after that was worse than any gaming, tool use, climbing, fall/break and time in plaster, go on the human gyroscope... I have ever done.

Thankfully only two hours. Though I assume those two hours are either going to feel more like half and hour or like a whole day.

Both at the same time is always a fun one. "Where did the time go I still have more to write" combines with "it feels like I have been in here forever" all too easily.

I love visiting the EOF after months of ignoring it. None of the threads make sense as I'm missing context from before, and it feels dumber than ever.

Or maybe it was always like that. Hm...
