I want to edit an offline save file to get the gear and abilities I need for testing. That is all. I own the game and console already.

the creator of splathex said there would be no support for splatoon 3 because all the save data is on the server. only way to edit the save is with memory editing.
I tried myself: if you restore the save of Account 1 to Account 2, the game will redownload the save of Account 2 when you boot the game. And you will get nothing from Account 1 other than the single player progress..

I'm going to call their excuse as bullshit because I currently have a modded Save File with gear unlocked and my switch never connects to any of the servers ever due to DNS.mitm
When I restored the account data from account 1 to account 2 it just duplicated the data from account 1 into account 2. So I don't know how you got this result.
Obviously if you keep your Switch offline it won't be able to connect to the servers. The game has to keep your gear and weapons cached offline so that you can use them in local multiplayer for example, now try to boot the game with internet and you'll see the real results. (most peoples don't play this game offline anyway)
excuse me is it possible for you to share the save file with all the gear unlocked? I tried using the one from the splatoon discord but it's giving me major problems, it doesn't want to load into my game at all no matter how many times I tried with that save file.
and yeah I do agree that the creator of splathex could have made one compatible for sp3, I'm assuming the person just gave up, doesn't want to do it and made an excuse to "justify" them not doing it instead of being honest about it.

Here - unfortunately the save data that I got does not have all gear unlocked it's only half, and the other person that helped me out had the save file from discord, - I needed it cause I was having issues getting the save data to load.
