Not sure why, but now every time I play, my memory usage sky rockets. It might start out at 7GB, but once any cutscene happens, the usage sky rockets and it'll stay there. I'm still using the same set up - Yuzu EA 2887, the settings recommended by Laast earlier, and the mods from theboy:

Not really sure why it's happening to be honest. Anyone have any ideas?

Seems to be an opengl memory leak, vulkan fixes this but has a feww graphical issues. There is a yuzu build to fix the memoery leak though. Your GPU memory should also be full to it uses system ram to compensate then fills that up

Custom build only for OpenGL. If using any EA Yuzu version (post-Vulkan fix) you *must* use Vulkan. Vulkan looks better, but delivers lower FPS across the board with weaker GPUs (and CPUs, all hardware matters here, need a balance), while OpenGL looks a bit worse but currently attains higher framerates as a result. (+ higher pagefile usage the more shaders are loaded)

Custom Yuzu build & OpenGL, don't set a pagefile to a fixed amount. Let windows do it, and set it on only your OS SSD. Saves on writes each boot, and at worst it'll only use ~40 gigs during a session.

From experience and as far as I'm aware, Yuzu EA Vulkan doesn't suffer from memory issues of any kind. EA 2888 is what I use, anything newer has led to various crashes or other visual bugs.

@Damo_ , @Armos - I am using Vulkan. I'm using the following settings, as posted by Laast:

1660962755417.png

I did double check to make sure the settings didn't reset or anything, but the API is still set to Vulkan.

@sena_16 : It's strange. It was working up until midway through the Colony 4 Ark. That's when my RAM usage doubled from 7 to 14, and now up to 15/16.

I'm using yuzu EA 2908
+Extended memory

Add-ons:
are the exact same

I'm not having any memory issues and im about 50hours into the game. Only had issues with OpenGL
Very strange

for Vulkan try EA 2895 and the latest EA. I played most of the game using the latest EA every day.

I played all of chapter 5 using OpenGL custom build. It works great, but I prefer Vulkan for cutscenes.

FSR is too sharp. I like bilinear on both opengl and vulkan.

I play on Vulkan GPU high 30 fps. Only 2K, Disable Scaler and Vulkan Workaround mods. I had only 3 vertex explosions in 120h.

FSR is ok if you don't use the 2K mod which is pretty heavy on older or mobile gpus i get 30 fps locked on opengl with it on a 1070 TI but vulkan is about 10 fps less for me so it's not really an option if i don't use the custom build, personally i prefer scaleforce though it's a bit less aggressive.

I've noticed that your RAM speed is only at 2133 Mhz. To give you an idea mine is at 3200 Mhz (with 16GB like you). It *might* explain why some of us do not get such a spike in RAM use (at 60fps). Highter RAM frequency allows more data to be stored and processed per second, so a smaller queue in the memory.

In most of games and apps, RAM speed does not matter that much, but with XC3 Yuzu it might weight a bit more than usual.

Please note that this is a pretty technical hint, but that's maybe a part of the explanation.

Good spot, Mine is also at 3200 Mhz. Would be worth a test

@Laast , @Damo_ ; Just got a chance to sit down with the game; even after changing my speeds to 3200MHz, my RAM usage skyrockets after about 4-5 minutes in game.

I'll try running a different EA, as @lippe suggested. Hopefully it works - not really sure where to go from there if not lol.

Edit:
Well at the very least, yuzu EA 2908 didn't help. 4-5 minutes in, massive spike in memory.

What graphic api are you using and also can you show your gpu ram usage

These are the settings I'm using, listed under Graphics. It is strange that my GPU utilization is so low (especially considering how high it is during other games), though I wouldn't know why.

Damn that is weird, my usage is usually similar between gpu and cpu while running XC3.

Does this happen with all the mods turned off?
Also what CPU are you using?

My CPU is a i5-9600k. I don't have any issues with any other games (emulated or other wise), and this one was running fine until I got to the second area. I've tried doubling back to the area, but no dice - it'll still shoot up after about 5 minutes time.

The issue still occurs with most of the mods off - I'm trying a few different combinations to see if it changes anything, but it takes about 5-6 minutes in between lol.

Edit
Unless the problem is the "Vulkan Workaround Mod", disabling the mods doesn't seem to help.
