Hi guys. I made this thread as a resource dedicated to maximizing the use of Steam on a PS4 pro, via linux. If for whatever reason, an alternative better than linux comes along, it’d be good if the focus of this thread could shift with it.

So far, it is my understanding that Modded Warefare’s approach seems to be the best.

The trouble mentioned in this video, in regards to PS4 Pros, is that the potential of the PS4Pro is not being fully utilized. Perhaps this is old news, and a better method exists. If not, I hope this thread could be a way forward in order to make it happen.

It would be really nice to use the PS4 Pro to play Steam games.

I've been waiting for someone can utilize the linux on PS4 Pro to do so.
Modded Warfare released a new tutorial. It was tricky, but I finally got it running. It still has the caveat of not being fully utilized, graphically, so we are hoping someone smart enough can come by and fix it for us.

I tried the Moddern Warfare 9.00 Linux Tutorial and wondered if my experience is the same as yours.
MW did an older Video on older FW which seems to have better performance than I experience:

I updated Linux as shown in his tutorial then ran then Linux 1GB Mode and installed the Steam Beta with Steam Play on Proton Experimental enabled. I also enabled the Swap Partition with 4GB and updated Linux.
With that DOOM 2016 loaded crazy slow and even on Low Graphics Full HD with Vulkan enabled had around 17fps in Arcade Mode on the 2nd Level.
I thought it might be my old USB3 external HDD so I switched it with a newer USB3 2TB HDD but had the same results.
Also the Steam GUI froze all the time and needed to wait for some minutes that it unfreezes. The Steam Freezes seemed a little better when I loaded the Linux 3GB version.

Today I tried it again with Linux 2GB and surprisingly after a new Steam Beta Update it seems Steam works better and also DOOM had faster loading and better fps with around 22fps in the same Arcade Level. In Campaign its around 23 - 27fps with Low Settings.
But in Moddern Warfares Video on a PS4 Pro it shows 30 - 40 fps and I wonder if I miss something?
In the Readme of MW he suggests to update the graphics drivers but when I follow his github link it shows graphic driver files from 2018. So it seems nothing newer is available?
I know there are still issues and graphic drivers are not optimal but it seems his experience is better. I also couldnt find any topic about Steam Freezes or low fps or only few people try Steam on PS4 Pro maybe?

I also tried Witcher 2 as it says its a Linux Game and I therefore expected it to run much better but the Game Performance is very unplayable there.
Another try was the Mafia Definitive Edition in 720p with Medium Graphics which also shows Linux compatibility but it just shows lots of fog on the whole screen so is unplayable to me after a crazy long loading time.
