I was playing on my 2ds, the screen went off, then on again, and it has been off ever since. It does have every other functionality tho: touchscreen, buttons, sound, etc.

Update: it does show an image, it's just the backlight that's not working, how should I fix it? I already tried cleaning it. Someone told me to look for shorts with a multimeter but I don't know where to start.

Check this cable and connector:

This cable is responsible for powering the backlight in the screen, it looks a bit tilted in your picture, try inserting it a bit further. Be careful not to break it or the connector.
However it is weird that the system still powers on like this and that you had the same issue with another known working screen, normally the system would not power on at all if this cable was not connected, so this could also be a hardware issue with the power circuitry on the motherboard.

Thanks for your input. I pulled the connector a little bit in but it still doesn't work. Someone that repairs Iphones told me this might be the backlight filter although I don't know what that is,
I think I forgot to mention this but the screen backlight does work in another motherboard so it can't be the cable.

It's most likely an issue with the motherboard's power delivery to the backlight then, you could look around for any visible damage or check some power delivery points, but other than that there's not that much that you can do if you're not a professional at repairing electronics.

There isn't really any visible damage in the mobo, I do have a multimeter but I'm not sure how to check those power delivery points, is there any guide I could follow?

I don't know any guides, the only thing I could suggest is measuring the voltage on that backlight connector. I'm not an expert with this either, I would probably have to replace the entire motherboard if I had the same issue.

Well, from what I've heard from my parents, he had a seizure last night, perhaps an epileptic episode, fucking died, had a near death experience, my dad called the paramedics, they showed up, took him to the hospital, and he woke up covered in tubes, and started complaining.
