still, it's on the same level as saying the ds mode on a 3ds is an emulator
Either way.. We still don't have native resolution for PSP games yet.. I had high hopes for Gepatch.. As the games that do work in Gepatch mode so soo much better.. Absolutely night & day.. But unfortunately the FloW has stopped working on as he simply lost interest in that project.. It's probably a nightmare of coding & takes way to much time.. & as always he quickly finds a new project this time GTA.. And future android ports.. & whatever next.. As he works on other consoles ect ect..... Has a life... Might have a wife & kids ect girlfriend or working on it..... Who knows I don't know him personally.. At all... I just follow his work as well as many others.... But still the dream of having PPSSPP.. Would be great for so many vita fans like. Myself... I simply like the layout... I like my Vita had one since it came out years before it was hacked... But I still don't like the bubbles... Layout... & I have about 100 psp game bubbles on my Vita... Ppsspp looks nice & clean....

Actually DS Mode on the 3DS is not being emulated. It's being run natively as the DS and 3DS use similar hardware. Unlike the PS Vita which is actually emulating PSP stuff.
for years i heard that the vita has psp hardware in it in order to handle it's backwards compatability, is this not the case anymore?

Not fully emulated but it seems like PSP is more virtualized than DS, since PSP runs inside the Vita OS and supports all its features like bluetooth audio, wireless controllers, suspend, etc., even though it is indeed leaning on PSP processors for most of the work.

What would that do, exactly? What does PPSSPP have that Adrenaline doesn't?
I'm guessing better game support. I noticed just recently that some games do not render probably in Adrenaline. One title of which I found is Castlevania Chronicle X, which is not only conspicuously sluggish, but also has a weird black box appearing somewhere on it.

It sounds like you are using ge_patch? Dracula X Chronicles plays perfectly in Adrenaline without it.

I thought the idea here was to leverage PPSSPP to use the Vita's full GPU to render the game graphics. You actually have adrenaline emulating the game logic and sound but push the 3D rendering part to PPSSPP to display. The main advantage here is being able to render native Vita resolution without slowdown, where the current ge_patch method often struggles with poor framerates because its confined to original PSP specs.

Thanks for the heads up. Apparently, it's indeed the ge_patch that's causing the issue.

I'm okay with Adrenaline for my PSP needs, in the meantime. But I'm still looking forward to what PPSSPP can offer once ported to PS Vita.

TheFlow is particularly interested in emulating PSP games on native VITA resolution. Adrenaline can't, PPSSPP can. Everyone's bet right now is he'll release it for the Ryuhen contest. I wonder what Rinne is working on...

Surely I'm being dumb here but the vita doesn't have anywhere near the power to run ppsspp at 2x resolution for games. I mean, even semi decent phones can't do this too well and they absolutely hammer the vita still for raw power. Surely this can't work, or am I missing something?

We all seem to think that but we have to assume that there's a lot we don't know about computer engineering in general if a skilled coder like TheFlow thinks this endeavour is more than possible

can you tell me what is the Ryuhen contest exactly please?

It's actually *Kyuhen (sorry for the typo). It's a homebrew games and app contest meant to grow the dev community of the PS VITA (which has been slowing down in the last couple of years due to Sony stopping production and support for the handheld). The community is encouraged to donate towards the prize pool in order to interest as many developers as possible. Currently the prize pool is over $1000 and there are like 4 categories (original game, port game, utility, [can't remember this one]). The last time we had a homebrew contest (in 2019, I think) we got some really good games and apps (check out GekiHen). Hopefully this one will be even better and will see new awesome devs coming to the VITA scene.

is there a direct link where I can add money to the pool?
