Not sure which side of the fence you're getting at, but speaking of that, it was kinda long over due:
"Is $70 unfairly high? The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics says that $59.99 in January 2005, when adjusted for inflation, is the same as $81.15 in January 2020. So, by that measure, $79.99 doesn’t seem unfair on its face. A cynic might say that console gamers are actually getting a deal."

Theres two sides to this coin. The tools used in the game development industry have gotten so good and making games has gotten much easier compared to 15-20 years ago. Obviously triple A games still command exorbanant prices (whether or not the cost is justified is a separate discussion), but for most releases and indie games I do not believe a $60 price tag is justified even accounting for inflation.

In my opinion the price of a game should be set on a per-game basis like a lot of indie games are priced digitally.

Thats true. While you do have to keep in mind its their bread and butter. Even given the context of this thread, I've spent thousands on Nintendo games over the years. While I wouldn't and don't mind paying 60-$70 for my favorite AAA titles, those are normally worth every penny (if you get the right ones). But paying $70 for a 17th game based on the Link to the past world map. Some people are gonna flip-out.

Imagine having the access to all of the games but it tends to get "boring" considering you have so many options you end up not completing games. Maybe it's just me

I had same feeling during Xbox 360 era, back than i was pirating, movies and games ended up bored. I left pirate scene couple years ago and im happy with it.

The cat and mouse game got boring.
Update accidentally, oops, better way for an atmo update.
Good thing my V1s board sd connector is fried.
I mostly used it for Android and emulation in the end... Things my phine can do just fine.

Got myself a Lite and the Games I felt like caring for on sale.
Still got a huge backlog
(but the V1 helped tremendously in deciding which ones I care for)

Thank god no more catching up.
It was never this tiresome in the GBA/DS days.

I left pirate scene couple years ago and im happy with it.
Yup. This for me aswell with the switch.
Don't even care about new releases as much either, as I already got more than enough.
Crazy library the switch got...

Pirating isn't worth it anymore imo.
(Using a hacked switch to backup saves, k, but otherwise: no point anymore.)

that's how I've always felt about hacking any system. the only pirated games I play are dkc returns and nsmb wii. the other games on the wii u I own. I even have cbhc installed, which seems like a waste. I just feel more interested in the hacks and exploits than I do with playing any actual games.

It happens to me regardless if cfw or buying the games. I figured out you just have to make yourself dig in and start playing through them they won't play themselves. Fight through the boredness and play and you'll have fun, but if you don't play them you'll be bored.

Might sound kinda dumb or odd but I use a stopwatch on my phone now to keep up with how much time I play and keep logs, and I make myself try to play close to 30 hours a week. It ends up being 20 sometimes, but it helps make me play a lot more than I used to. Before I started doing that I went 6 months without touching a game.

Before CFW, i am trying to and play Switch game legally. I buy FIFA, ACNH, FE3H and BOTW, all physically, but only BOTW and FIFA get me around 100 - 140 hours, ACNH take me about 70 hours, play FE3H about 30 minutes and i'm not finished BOTW or FE3H. Since i have CFW, i spend more time with my Switch, not just play game but also download and test many new games (and delete them), install emulator, homebrew, overclocking, apply mod patch,....And i can buy new game if i find that interesting or it is game from series i love.
Yeah, i am not bored with CFW.

That's why I haven't got into collecting the retro devices like anbernic handhelds or the various pi based gadgets. I don't want to get to the point where the devices are the hobby not the games.

Was the same problem for me with previous flashed/modded console (Like a XBOX 360 back in the day, or a Vita). Will most probably be the same with my new switch, though at the moment I try my best to keep playing one game when I like it and only install and occasionally play stuff that does not require my main focus (Like I play one "major" game like BotW and go for some super smash when I feel like it.)

But I can see this problem coming up again, it really is a luxury problem though :D
