Basically you want to scrap the trace off so the line is cut.

so the line not in the box

Huh...? Yes just cut the line. I used a small flathead screwdriver (for glasses) to scrap it off.

I really liked this method, much easier in my opinion.

ontario huh

If you use this hack, you dont need to buy another battery
http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/1257

i can confirm it works on my psp

Nice link! Does that work for the Phat and the Slim? Also, how do you use it exactly? Does it make your PSP think the battery is a pandora battery? and then you just ... erase it and it thinks its a regular battery again? I don't have a PSP yet but I will have one soon enough!

it writes a code to the sector where the battery tells the psp to read which tells it to boot to the xmb

it works on my phat psp, not sure of slim

it has to write something specific, so i'm not sure if you can erase it normally

Ahh ok. I'm probably just going to do what Sir VG did and order a Datel TOOL Battery and go from there

If you follow this guide using the Datel Tool Battery (And ignoring the battery moding part), you'll get 3.71 M33. Then just update to 3.80 M33.

Just out of curiosity can this method be used to downgrade from 3.80 m33? Is there even a way?

Or once you upgrade to a custom firmware from 3.71 its set?

I have a old phat PSP from when they first came out, it still has the same battery. So it has a huge circuit board. Where do I cut so I reuse the battery again, since I'm too cheap to buy a another. >_>

Well. I just bought a PSP Slim (apparently) for the sole purpose of putting a CFW on it. It is OF 3.72 and I'm not sure if I can use the CFW as I read about needing a downgrader first and...I'd rather not have to deal with that. I have yet to get the Tool Battery so I can't do anything for the moment, but I might as well review while I have the time:

So I follow the instructions, I understand that. My question is, do I still go on with M33 3.71 or whatever, or go for the newest version? Or use a downgrader?

Yes TOTALNewbieasyInstallerPandorasmenu will still work. It's not actually a downgrader anyway, more like rewriting your NAND with CFW directly through Pandora's Battery and files on the Memory Stick.

I see, that's good to hear. So, I can install the newest version right away or do I do 3.71 CFW first and then upgrade? I hate to be such a worrywort, but anything to reduce the chances of bricking or whatnot, you know?

Install the CFW first, then upgrade. Otherwise, you're gonna upgrade, downgrade, then upgrade again, which is a waste of time.

And I had the same OFW on my PSP Slim (3.72) and the process went smooth as silk as long as you follow the guide.

Cool beans, thanks Sir VG. All I have to do now is wait for the Tool Battery to arrive then. And then decide if I want to play Also Sprach Zarathustra or O Fortuna in the background while I mod the system. =P
