My Tool battery arrived today and it flashed my slim without problems and I can also use it as a normal battery as long as I power on my PSP without a battery and I can just tap the hold button and let it go to sleep without problems

That doesn't really make sense...? How do you power on your PSP without a battery in the first place?

If you meant power on your PSP with AC adapter then insert the TOOL battery...then I guess that would work.

But if I were you I'd just get another battery so I can turn on my PSP on the go.

But if I were you I'd just get another battery so I can turn on my PSP on the go.

Yeah and after that I can let my PSP go to sleep and use the HOLD button and I will indeed get a new better battery sometime soon.

I couldn't help but notice one of the easiest Slim battery methods isn't here, so I thought I'd contribute a little, as this method saved me the hassle of ruining a battery!

PANDORA'S BATTERY MOD
Repairable Edition

Want to load your slim with custom firmware, but don't want to buy a new battery/TOOL battery? Good news, there is a solution! (that's not mentioned in the op, it seems) This pandora's battery mod is repairable, so you can use your battery after booting M33 on it! Isn't that great?

Materials:
Box Cutter/something similar
PSP Slim Battery
Magic Memory Stick
PSP Slim (duh.

)
A Pencil (Graphite reparation! explanation below)

First off, all of the software/firmware stuff is the same as the first post. Totallynewbiepandoraetcinstaller is still your magic memory stick maker. This is ONLY a hardware mod. Just to make things crystal clear.

now, as far as cutting cords go, you can cut the pin (making your battery pretty much useless), or you can take a box cutter/razor/whatever and cut here:

see the trace? Slice it up with your box cutter/whatever. Be careful, as it's small hardware, and it's tough to get it disconnected right. You can check by popping the battery back in when you think you've got it cut. If your PSP boots automatically and goes to a blank screen, you did it right. If not, open the battery back up and try and deepen the cut. It took me a few tries. Also, be careful not to hit any other parts. You don't want to mess your battery up, now do you?

Congrats, you should now have a Pandora's Battery! Follow the firmware installation instructions like the first post, and success is yours! Now let's repair that battery. It's a simple task, really. Take your pencil and color the connection back. Yes, it's that simple. It really works. Just color in the valley made by your knife, and the graphite repairs the link! Viola, CFW with one battery that still works in the end!

(Note: please tell me if this needs to be revised any, or any other comments/suggestions. And why did I write this? I keep seeing people modding their PSPs and needing new batteries, I thought I'd save future modders a few bucks.

with a psp phat battery, can you just cut the chip with the pins in half? thats so much easier

also, would a small toothed knife be better?

I found your method way easier than the pin cutting version.

After all, cutting a trace (that's what it's called) is way easier than cutting a pin. Moreover, that trace is near edge of board with a lot of spaces around it.

I just used a flathead screwdriver for glasses, which is really small, and scraped the trace off.

Yeah those pins are smaller than they seem in the pictures. I've used a small pin to cut it. It wasn't so hard though.

Well the point is, this way you can repair your battery without having to solderi a goddamn tiny pin back.

1. Thanks anime_junkie, I made a Pandora battery and installed custom firmware on my PSP slim.

2. During my installation, I found out something interesting. If you are going to prepare your Magic MS with a card reader, you cannot do it through the adapter (the MS Duo to MS adapter).

I was having trouble making the Magic MS (PSP won't read it with the Pandora battery in), I tried numerous times with no success. Then I switched to a card reader that reads MS Duo directly (without the adapter), and was successful on my first try.

Mine went fine through an adapter , I don't have anything that can take a MS duo without it . Worked first time no problems.

Huh...? Yes just cut the line. I used a small flathead screwdriver (for glasses) to scrap it off.

I really liked this method, much easier in my opinion.
