PlayStation Studios to publish their first Xbox game in the form of MLB The Show 21

Once exclusive to only Sony consoles, PlayStation Studios is set to bring the MLB The Show franchise to Microsoft's platform as the first PlayStation-published game for Xbox systems. Retailing at $69.99 for Xbox Series and PlayStation 5, MLB The Show 21 will release on April 20th, with San Diego Padres player Fernando Tatis Jr. featured on the box. Cross-platform play will be available as well, allowing players on Xbox systems to play online against PlayStation users.

Interesting! Glad to see Sony making steps to making games more accessible. The inclusion of cross-play is good news and I am glad to see it. As a Playstation owned, I'd like to see a world in which more Sony-published games get their time to shine on other platforms, as well as seeing some Microsoft games on Playstation, too.

How popular are baseball video games? The few that I've played in the past are soooooo boring
As someone who loves baseball, loves playing baseball, lives, breathes, and dies for baseball, I hate both the 2K and The Show games. I can't get into them. I've tried, many, many times. They're just too strict. I understand people who enjoy the simulation aspect...but I'd rather just play or watch real baseball.

Maybe someday online over VR?

What in heavens name is this? Sony, bowing down to Microsoft?
This is real, right? Will Sony stop making hardware, like Sega did and become a publisher in the rivals machines?

I find this amusing.

Ken griffey jr's MLB 99 on the PS1 is still my favorite 3D baseball game. Bases Loaded 4 on the NES and Tecmo Baseball on Gameboy were my favorite 2D baseball games.

iirc, isn't this because they had to start releasing the game on other platforms too or they would loose the rights?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

shut up double post thing
also, you would think it would come to the switch instead of the xbox given...ya know...one is a direct competitor and the other is not...

I doubt they'll confirm that rumor.

On the other hand, it's not the first time Sony released a baseball game for multiple systems.
They've held the MLB license since 1993's ESPN Baseball Tonight.

this is one proof that play station is better than xbocks, micro soft even asking for play station games in xbox XD
I hope that was an attempt at sarcasm since "micro soft" didn't ask for anything.

Congrats to Sony for finally realizing it cannot win and to start developing for the superior PC and Xbox platforms.

One thing it is proof of is that Sony will fight tooth and nail against consumer rights and wishes, even in the face of competition.

At least Microsoft have slowly forced them to improve, but I fear if Microsoft become so dominant, as it appears they are, they may slip back into their old model, of being just like Sony, Apple, Google, etc (not that they're much better anyway)

tbh , sure they have their own consoles , they are basically the same thing i stick with xbox purely because of my investment over the years and i prefer the controller, it makes sense to publish on each others consoles. when it comes down to something simple as that then it dont matter what console you buy and maybe devs are starting to see that too
they need exclusives to push the hardware but with games like this theres no need to keep it exclusive if they can see a return on the extra development costs that is
