The Partner Showcase revealed numerous new release dates and game titles, ranging from Story of Seasons, to Bravely Default II. Major announcements include Control: Ultimate Edition, which has just launched on the Nintendo Switch, as a cloud version, and Hitman 3 which will also be playable through the cloud as well. Ubisoft’s Immortals: Fenyx Rising has locked in a launch of December 3rd, while Square Enix’s Bravely Default II faces a slight delay into 2021, with a new release date of February 26th.

The news continues with the announcement of Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town, which brings an all new farming adventure to the console on March 26th. The No More Heroes series saw the major reveal of not just a new release window for the third entry, but also the existence of Nintendo Switch ports of No More Heroes 1 and 2, which were originally available on the Nintendo Wii. Kirby developers HAL Laboratory have a new game to show off called Part Time UFO, which is already on the eShop. Arriving today on the eShop alongside it is a demo for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, which you can grab right now, to experience part of the game ahead of its November 20th official launch.

man, i can't stand that chibi look. on the (3)DS it might be ok, but it's just laziness and an excuse for not creating good graphics on the switch.
don't bother me with "it's artstyle"-bullsh!t

NMH is the winner of the show. Hope for a physical release.
I didn't like it either. Wish it was like this artwork:

Good Nintendo Direct overall. Most interesting is the Cloud releases. And Glad to see Age of Calamity is getting a demo!

What's most interesting here was that cloud games on the Switch are leaving Japan. This could mean big things for the Switch going forward. With things in place for the Switch to handle streaming games across the world, we could see more intensive games make their way to Switch in the cloud form. We're getting Hitman and Control in this way. I can see the Japan cloud games make their way to West as well: Assassin's Creedy Odyssey, Resident Evil VII, and Phantasy Star Online 2. I'm really hoping that this means the Switch may finally see the likes of GTA V, even if we do have to stream it to play it on the system.

It also gives more hope that perhaps Microsoft will put Game Pass streaming on the Switch via the Xcloud. Phil Spencer was talking about the possibility again, and seemed to suggest this time that it's possible it could happen after it's released for ios.

It's not. The "launcher" is free. They give you a very limited time to play a bit. After that you have to buy it.
I suppose that makes sense, they want the players to know what the quality of streaming games on their device where they live will be like, would be a shame to pay full price only to find that your internet isn't good enough to play cloud releases at reasonable framerates and resolution.

Cloud gaming is such a cop out. I hope cloud gaming as a concept dies an ignominious death.
Not happening, Microsoft is all in on Xcloud, and thus far it seems to be doing them quite well by pairing Game Pass with it.

Google's efforts though... yeah, Stadia will likely die out. I think for Nintendo since cloud gaming on the Switch was exclusive to Japan for a couple of years there, and now that it's coming to the West, seems like the implication for them is that it's doing well in the initial market and they've seen enough feedback and results to think that expanding it outside of Japan is a good idea, in other words I don't think it will die for Nintendo anytime soon but instead will grow.

Still, I can't possibly think of this being a viable idea especially on a portable system. Most likely you'll only use it in your house, with a dock and ethernet and not on wifi. (Just to remind everyone that they have a switch lite version with no way to use a dock, so no way to use ethernet.) Quite unexpected honestly. Nothing against cloud gaming. But I'm still a bit confused. Do you make one time payment to play it whenever you want or is it subscription based like some mmo games?

I feel like Nvidia geforce now has the setup better. You subscribe to enable cloud gaming for nvidia powered devices, but you still have total access to your steam library of games you already paid for and own. Instead of paying for a license to only stream a game you get license for which feels like going to your friends house to play a game every time you decide to play. I'm still wondering if they would decided to put the geforce now app on the switch.

With 5G on our phones now and making them hotspots, it isn't hard for me to imagine game streaming on the Switch even on the go can actually be decent. Also as an aside, thank god all the phone providers are finally onboard with unlimited data as the norm. This would lose a lot of appeal if we still had to pay per GB data a month.

Depends, I already have a Internet service provider with modem and router. I don't think most people will want to pay extra money for 5G phones (especially if is not unlimited) on top of their internet bill to play the game outside using their phone hotspot thing. Most of the time people playing a game outside is if they want to do something during long periods of nothing. Waiting for or riding bus or train transportation, office waiting room, starbucks, bathroom etc. (Yes people do it on the toilet, is not disgusting.) :ninja:

I mean I'm in a market for a new phone, so I'll personally be getting 5G next for sure. Yeah, its early in 5G, it's not widely adapted yet, but soon enough, all the phones are only going to offer 5G, just as 3G was phased out after 4G was introduced. Cloud gaming on the Switch is definitely a forward thinking move, it may play well now, but it can only play better as our internet gets better and more people adapt 5G phones and all of that. If anyone isn't paying for unlimited in this day and age, they gotta call up their phone providers quickly because they're likely paying more to get less data lol.

Actually looking into it, it looks like all base level phone plans are unlimited plans (applied to 4G) for all the major networks and include 50GB 5G access a month. It's not unlimited 5G, but at 50GB a month in the base unlimited plans, that's not bad at all, and in time that too will become unlimited.

I got 2Mb/s for downloads and 0.5Mb/s for uploads. What's your speed?

Speed doesn't matter as my ISP is stingy about bandwidth caps. 1 TB is the cap, but if you stream 4K 60 fps, that eats up data really fast, like, it takes probably a week or two to reach, gaming at one to two hours per day.

agreed. I'm guessing someone will mod the graphics to not have the aesthetic levels of quest-64. hopefully.

Any bets on how performance for Fenyx Rising will be on Switch, considering the stadia demo was 1080p/30fps and it still struggled sometimes?

Boy, I can't wait to pay full price for something I can't download and keep on my system
