Glad this was of help to you, Kaico cumstomer support is hard to get info from. The adapter is really decent build quality for the price shame they pretty much lie about it being updated on amazon.
Yeah I think I am just going to order a Carby, and sell the Kaico on eBay since it's passed the return date on Amazon.

Probably the best idea since it will probably cost more money then it would be worth in your case to update it. Just mention it can be updated through jtag or my method and hopefully someone who already has the equipment can get a decently capable gcvideo adapter out of it. I can actually send a ms to my buddy and see if he could be a potential buyer if you are interested. Just let me know a price in pm.

I've just resurrected a junk PAL GC DOL-001 and I was wondering what are my options for getting GCVideo on a budget. I also got a Game Boy Player, and kinda looking forward to see dem carts playing sharp. Any advises?

For a PAL Gamecube a simple shielded SCART works wonders for the Game Boy Player. I use Retro Gaming Cables' Pack-A-Punch fully shielded SCART — half the price of a Carby and tied with original component in terms of quality (for Game Boy Player use only, GCVideo and component are better for actual Gamecube games). Here's what I was able to do without using the Gamecube's digital out port.

Edit: if you do end up needing to update a carby i wrote an easy guide but the newer models come with updatable firmware via a homebrew dol file.

If you followup the thread already have a "carby", also updated to latest version. But thank you so much! :)

Out of curiosity - I see so many buyers contacting GC Plug sellers, asking if the device comes with Firmware version 3.0e pre-installed and they often receive the answer, that the unit comes with 3.0d.
So I tried to look up why everyone is asking for 3.0e and I must be missing something here, because in the official changelog (here) it says that it only fixes Wii related stuff and nothing that the gamecube version needs

Can anyone tell me why one would need the latest firmware version on these when using it with a gamecube?

I think they are asking this just because it's the latest version.
The important thing is that if you have a gcvideo device with version 3.0 (can be 3.0a, 3.0b, etc), you can update the device without using a JTAG updater.

Have no idea maybe ignorance? My device is on 30d and with 30e being Wii only related I will not update mine as there is no point in doing so

I had to return my Kaico one because it was 2.4D and the replacement amazon sent me is 3.0D so I'm happy now since I can updated via the device itself

Well, it's working great since! I have no problem at all. I just had to pair the remote again using a pair of tweezers. Don't hesitate to ask me if you have any question.
Hi there I had a problem with my kaico adapter, would you mind to explain how you could open the device? The conector to AV Digital is quite loosed (I don´t know why) I would like to know how can I open this adapter. Thank in advance

Hi! I'm afraid the answer won't satisfy you... To open it, I had to push on the AV connector to make the PCB slide. The plastic surrounding the hdmi port will pop out to let the PCB go out. You'll need a little bit of force to do this, and I'm afraid it will break your AV connector if it's already a bit loose.
Mabe you can instead contact Kaito on Facebook or by mail. Maybe they can exchange your unit. I contacted them before for another problem, and in my opinion they were very customer friendly.

i used some tools to wedge between the plastic and "pop" it out, mainly a small flat head and a exacto knife. if you don't have that or the ability to solder at your disposal yeah might be abetter bet to contact kaico about the issue. hopefully they won't be as hard to communicate with as they where when i had to press them for what info i have shared.

I bought mine on amazon and came with 2.4d but what wacko were you talking to to remove the flash chip to reprogram it I upgraded mine with my xinlix programmer do you see those holes in a line marked j1 that’s the flash jumper you play in the adapter into the cube without the hdmi cable and load the flash update 3.0e in this case and find the chip on your computer with Xinlix computer program and right click erase then right click flash pick the 3.0e and your done much easier then desolder a chip and reflash it and solder back

Indeed it's easier, but you need a Xinlix programmer (40$).
Btw, it's the official way to update it according to Bitfunx (which sells the same product) http://www.bitfunx.com/2021/01/30/gcvideo-hdmi-firmware-update-tutorial/.
The method we provided uses a cheap programmer (10$) instead.

I updated my Kaico Adapter from 2.4d with the CH341a Programmer. It first but the Remote wasnt working. One guy ove told to Short the pins with tweezers on SW1 but that didnt worked and i slipped with the tweezers to the right and the LED goes off.
Now the Adapter isnt working anymore ... I think i broke it. I think i shorted R10 or something else in this region. Maybe only the resistor is broken but i dont know how i can test that.
