Hacking Black screen after SX Core install

Hi,
Hope somebody can help me as I had a bad experience installing SX core on my switch.

Last night I installed SX Core and I got the green light and the boot.dat screen.
I started to have problems when I put the SD card with the boot.dat in the switch, because I got a black screen and nothing happened.

I doubled check the solder points and everything seemed good so I disconnected the SX core and connected the NAND in the Switch socket to boot into the origin system.
After this the same black screen happened, I try to turn on the switch and nothing.

Any ideas ? Do I also need to desolder the flex in order to boot into the original system ?

Really only can help you with the Flex cable removing bit.
Yes you need to remove it completly from the motherboard in order to get the
original Switch system to work.
But be carefull not to destroy the caps.The best way to remove the solder would
be to use solder wick.Remember to apply flux to the wick,then the wick sucks up the solder better.
and quicker.
Actually i have sort of the same problem as you although i haven't been able to test if thecore install works yet,since i destroyed my sd cardreader.A new is on the way with mail
but if i run into the same problem as you,i will remove the core+flexcable and not do stupid things like this again.

How you knew it was the SD card?

I took some pictures and it seems one capacitor is bridged.

Can someone look at this picture and tell me if he can spot something wrong ?

In addition to the bridged/ possibly damaged cap. First thing I see is thermal paste over everything, this would make soldering a challenge for sure. Solder likes clean surfaces. There might even be another damaged/ bridged cap, the first cap right of SP1 looks iffy. SP1 itself looks like you might have cold solder joint as well, better yet straight up not attached. Is that a scratch Next to the N on the Tegra die? I seriously hope it isn’t!

Clean that up a lot better, remove bridges and resolder SP1 and take another pic! I hope that’s just a hair on that die!

The thermal paste is because I took the picture just after I dissembled the switch again, it does look bad on the picture.

The problem was the bridged cap, I took out the solder with a solder wick and the switch now boots. Had to use a microscope to be sure about the bridge.

I was also thinking there was a cold joint on the SP1 but since it was showing green light I chose to not touch it. It's not perfect but it works and I think it's better to not touch it more.

I also removed some solder from the anchor as there was a lot of solder there... I can say its a hard job, everything is very tiny....

I wrote to you that you need to remove the Flex cable to be able to boot into Switch original system.
I was wrong...Sorry
You only need the nand chip attached to the motherboard.

Hi, i know this thread is a bit old but im having the exact same issue. the only difference is that when i remove the sx core and put in my original nand chip i get a blue screen. im not sure what the issue there is. I am able to get to the bootloader screen (red angry sd card). was i supposed to be on a certain firmware before starting? im not sure what im doing wrong. my solder points are smooth and shiny i used plenty of flux and everything seems ok. ive checked for bridge caps and tested for continuity along my solder points.

soon as i put in my sd card with boot.dat i get a black screen. if i put in an sd card with nothing, i get to the bootloader screen. any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you.
