Hi Can anyone point me in the right direction to a thread or info so I can fix my Switch?

Switch is like brand new, not a scratch etc. right up in the top left corner, the touchscreen is detecting a constant and very rapid tapping of the screen.

100% certain this is not a joycon problem. I have had the joycons disconnected from console, unpowered, and located at the other side of the house!

Further info, I removed screen protector which instantly stopped this phenomenon. However, whilst using the console over the next half hour, I noticed that once every now and then, the touchscreen would register a touch and interrupt me. (So its still happening, just far less frequent...). Can a static build up inside the console affect the capacitive touchscreen?

Would a new LCD + Digitiser fix this problem?

Any help appreciated!

Hiya,
Yes spot on! That was the initial indication of a problem. like a very faint rapid bop/beep sound. This touch when in the main menus interrupts your inputs by deselecting wherever you had previously moved which item is highlighted if that makes sense?

I know exactly what you mean. Never had a problem with it. We have 3 Switches in the household, If I was to anticipate a problem with any of them, I would guess it would be either my daughters thats been dropped 100 times, or the misses which lives in a slot between 2 cushions on the sofa... My Switch is the one I know with absolute certainty has been well looked after.

Yup done this, with no controllers connected, I could see exactly where the input was. (Top Left as mentioned.)

well thats an indication somthing is wrong also can you tell me how high pitched the sound effect is
Not particularly high pitched from memory, I cant simulate these conditions to make the problem happen again, as like I mentioned, problem is pretty much gone since removing screen protector.

I had a very similar effect on my old 3DS, I was getting bizarre random ghost touches. The answer for me was to stop using a usb-to-DS charger; when the battery finally drained from the power charged with the USB adapter, the ghost touches stopped happening. Hopefully my comment can be of use brainstorming an answer.

oh and also it probably a defect on te switch if it is in warranty you should get it repared by nintendo shipping is free (in ausralia that is)
Not a chance I can do that... Its unpatched and has 256gb internal storage. I would rather replace the the LCD and digitizer if this will fix it.

Your comment may well hold credence, as I noticed elsewhere that a similar issue was resolved by a complete discharge/recharge of console. I'll discharge it and monitor frequency of problem.

I like your thinking I never thought of this. I know that whilst booting I never touch the screen. I religiously almost never touch the screen unless I can help it. However I just tried this TOUCHING the screen during boot to see if I could create an exaggerated version of the problem. Nothing. In fact, its been on the main menu a few minutes now and I dont think its acted up once.
