So it's got some stuff in there about a vr headset with cameras on it, a connector for the controller that uses the 1/8" headphone connector but with a special extra signal line. The controller seems to have "force sense" so maybe they're going back to the analog type dpad and face buttons like PS2, it also has a microphone.

I normally do the "have these people never heard of prior art" dance but that is a lot of patents.

https://patentscope.wipo.int/search/en/detail.jsf?docId=WO2020110350&_cid=P10-KB0S0O-12378-1
Publication Number WO/2020/110350
Publication Date 04.06.2020
International Application No. PCT/JP2019/020347
International Filing Date 22.05.2019
Says the controller has two choicely positioned microphones, possibly floating ones, to reduce the noise associated with gathering the sound in a places with buttons going clickedy clackedy or your giant sausage fingers blocking the microphone.
I normally advise against reading too much into drawings included with such things, both because making the worst art possible but still being valid seems to be a game among patent drawers but more because companies are also not in a hurry to leak things. Indeed here I don't know if it is just the "invention" slapped on an extant controller or something but it might be like the final result if you do want to have a look at the drawing.
If they can get it working (and later in the text does mention speech) then that might be an interesting take when everybody has a "headset" by default. I am however also remembering the time in rainbow 6 vegas online when I allowed all voice chat to come through my speakers...
Oh and if the kinect was a spy device then this... oh dear.

(EN) SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CONVERTING IMAGE DATA INTO A NATURAL LANGUAGE DESCRIPTION
Sony are attempting to use AI to give the ever fun audio descriptions of events in game. Bastion was more of a programming trick but I would actually be curious to see the end results of this one, either if it actually works as they want or fails as most AI things hilariously do.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DETERMINING MOVEMENT OF A CONTROLLER WITH RESPECT TO AN HMD
Sony want to know where your controller is relative to the VR goggles you are wearing. Quite how sticking various sorts of camera onto VR googles and a light onto a controller to track it is not obvious or all the prior art (see wiimotes, kinect IR beam and any number of 3d scanners) I do not know.

WO2020110929 - INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, INFORMATION PROCESSING SYSTEM, DEVICE FOR POSITION/ATTITUDE ACQUISITION, AND DEVICE INFORMATION ACQUISITION METHOD
Same as above but they use timed pulses to get a more precise position at any given time to calculate . Pretty sure I have a book from the 50s covering something like this for making things faster in a factory, and failing that is this not motion capture 101?

LEARNING DEVICE, FOREGROUND REGION DEDUCTION DEVICE, LEARNING METHOD, FOREGROUND REGION DEDUCTION METHOD, AND PROGRAM
They take a picture of the area without anybody in it, and then with someone in it. Hey presto they know what is the background and what is the person.

WO2020111155 - INFORMATION PROCESSING DEVICE, METHOD FOR CONTROLLING SAME, AND PROGRAM
The information sensing unit, aka controller, is not only a switch but a force cell as well to tell how hard you mashed the button aka everything is a mediocre analogue stick.
I would be curious to see this in games actually, though I imagine I will be more interested to see someone do this as anti cheat/determine if someone else is playing detection, in before banned because you broke your finger and your digital (as in finger) heuristics changed.

WO2020112787 - SPLIT GROUND CONNECTOR
They want to make another standard for the 3.5mm headphone jack to split the ground in it to detect input. If it is backwards compatible then yay as spring wear is a problem and this would possibly negate it.
Only problem is I think I saw a 4 ring jack be used to do this some time ago and I am not sure there is a functional difference here.

WO2020111274 - ELECTRONIC DEVICE (a design for heatsink)

As above it is a heatsink design.
The want to slice out v shaped wedge on top of the device to draw air into the V and blow it out the sides which are also at a jaunty angle. Can also have the power supply brick in one of the "wings" if you want as well. If you are struggling to visualise it from the main page make sure to go to the drawings tab as there are some better ones there.
One way to solve the people wedging the console in a cabinet and not giving it air flow problem I guess.
All kinds of obvious but fairly good for the "my briefcase of nonsense patents is as big as yours, do you want to dance" dance.
It is credited to "SONY INTERACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT INC." so could be a design for the shell of the PS5 or a PS4 revision. If it is anything like the proportions in the images (again take such things with a massive pinch of salt) then the xbone VCR jokes will be a thing of the past.

JP2019165189 - HEAT SINK AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE

Seems to be a design of heatsink with some sticky out things to prevent dust from clogging them up as much/as quickly. Dare I say they put a grille in front of a heatsink/radiator to prevent "movement of a foreign matter in an air flow path" which might come in contact with the device in question (translation of their words). It is normally not the device in question I worry about unless it is nice conductive fluid (which this will do basically nothing to prevent) as much as the airflow itself being interrupted by the dust.

All in all nothing of great interest.
The controller force thing is of marginal interest I suppose. Dual mics I guess could mean more voice chat (yay). The VR stuff just means Sony are keeping a toe in VR for when it pops in a few years after tech catches up to the needed stuff to do the job. The headphone jack might be of interest to peripheral makers and if it is in a controller then . If the v notch is indeed a case design then OK something there potentially of interest here.
