Basically I got an Xbox 360 slim with a DH-16D5S Liteon disk drive and is hard to cfw so my next option was x360key but it says on some other website that is not compatible with that disk drive, well you need to hack it like RGH or something. Is this old info will the x360key work correctly on this disk drive without RGH or JTAG?
You'll need to RGH the console if you're wanting to extract the key from that drive.
Yes, it doesn’t need to stay in. Just enough to retrieve the key afaik. At this point maybe RGH is a better mod for you or just buy a phat or early model slim, 2012 and after, think and you can go on modchipcentral.com to order stuff.

No. You can’t. You need to get the information and with earlier slims and phats are easy to get key from. But if you have to rgh a board just to get the information, may as well go that route. If you already have the xkey they just get a phat. Those are cheap and easy to find and easy to Xkey. I think chips to rgh are cheaper and there are more backups to be found than there are ISO’s.

Alright mate thanks for the info is it possible for me to just get a older disk drive from another slim model that Is compatible with xkey or am I stick with the dvd drive?
You need the dvdkey from your xbox that the xkey needs to work.
The only way to do this is by using rgh to grab it from the motherboard, because the dvd drive board was never hacked.
You will need a nand-x and a cr4xl or other glitching chip.

Alright thank you at least I know a bit more about what can be done and what can't be with xkey and DVD drives.
Xkey allows for retail backups, RGH is unlocking your system much like the 3DS.
DLC/XBLA/360 games/Xbox games/XBLIG can all be dumped and executed from the main HDD.
Advantage of Xkey is the ability to go on Xbox Live.
It's the sole reason why anyone goes for it.

You can do it, just a bit more challenging is all. I chose the xkey for two reasons. One going on live and two because I have no soldering skills in xboxes. I heard it was easy to mess up the traces and I didn’t know of anyone around here to do it.

Sorry to bring this up again but the back of my console says it was manufactured in 2011, before posting this form I messaged a company called OzModChips and they said that my console should be fine as long as it wasn't manufactured after 2014
Just a bit confused that's all

2011? sounds like a Trinity to me, Is it glossy or matte black?
But if it's from 2011, it can be almost always be dumped.

Get it opened up and if you're still unsure then post a picture of the drive in here and we'll help you out.

FW Ver: 1175
Matte Black/Glossy it's got a mix of both but it is second hand from EB Games so maybe those were replaced
