No IOS required.
You say it's clean so you surely have removed any previous retroarch cores and config.
Be sure to have the neogeo.zip bios with unibios inside.

When is it freezing exactly? Does the progress bar goes till the end? Till the green screen?

Clean, removed from app and retroarch folder.
neogeo.zip (unibios) on rom folder.

Freezing happens after progress bar goes to end, aparently it loads and became black, don't show green screen.

Don't use the new conversor. I had troubles with that new conversor.
Use the one posted in a comment around page 2 or 3 or somewhere there.

Also, which version of the Neo Geo core are you using? I had troubles with the updated version of the NeoGeo core.
I'm still using the very first one.

There only have been 2 versions of the convertor. V2 is higly recommended since in the 1st one some weren't working : https://gbatemp.net/threads/large-neogeo-games-support-and-cps3-tests.493767/#post-7781197
But I'm curious to know what problems you had.

Again what troubles? Are you really using V1? A lot of games don't work correctly in this one(cf. changelog). If you want a previous version, use v4 and above.

I couldn't manage to make King of Fighters 98 to work. I did the conversion with converter v2 and using v4 FBA. The unibios starts and then blackscreen. Am I missing anything?

Could you check your files in the cache folder please? what's the crom file size?

I managed to reproduce a bug on my virtual windows xp that creates a 0 Ko crom file. But it only happens if the conversion is done on a partition other than C:.
It's an unreliable test though. Not happening on my real Windows 10.

Is the converter launched from your C: partition?

Hi @Wiimpathy . If you don't mind the quick question, since there is no official thread for it, is there a way to use global 240p support in your BlueMSX mod?

Using the path and then the argument works, though i would like to use the emulator and change to other games, too.

Another detail, that kinda behaves like a bug: i am using a component cable connected to my PVM, with the Wii set to 480i in the settings. The emulator still boots in forced 480p.

Sounds like the problem I experienced. When it goes to the black screen, press the home button on the Wii more, then select the unibios, then select restart, the game should now work.

I runned the rom covnerter from C: on my Windos 10. Here is what the is in the cache folder:

cache_info 513 Kb
crom 65.536 Kb
srom 129 Kb
vrom 16.384 Kb

I think the romset is for FB Alpha v0.2.97.31 ¿could it be the reason? I'havent been able to found v0.2.97.29 romset

The files look ok. At least no 0 ko file.
If you have the correct unibios and a clean install of V6 that shouldn't happen. Try to force unibios version in settings maybe.
And select 'Restart' like it was suggested by @MrCrynox

I don't think it's possible. It was mainly done to be used as a WiiFlow plugin. Here's how it's done : https://github.com/Wiimpathy/bluemsx-wii/blob/PluginVideoOptions/source/Wii/bluemsxlite.cpp#L618
No idea about component. I don't even remember how video is handled in this emulator.

Daum. Well, i guess i could try recompiling it and erase only that autodetect code that makes the emu unusable on CRT?

BTW, for those that use UNIBIOS, version 4.0 is now free since a couple of weeks ago.

Carried over from another thread (sorry for any confusion) (https://gbatemp.net/threads/mame-2003-plus.499497/page-9#post-9007006)

"@Wiimpathy said:
You mean you couldn't start any games in any of the stable official Retroarch from there : https://www.retroarch.com/?page=platforms
If so that's annoying.
The vm code is in official core fo some time. Some versions have issues. Clean retroarch install (no previous cfg)?
Sigh, that's why recommend using the builds(neo V6 here) from this thread...

About the slow fps in that game, is it the same issue that should be fixed in V6?"

I know Version 4 fixed the slowdown in the waterfall stage in Garou, and v5-6 fixed some some slowdown in the underwater levels in Metal Slug 3, but there is still some major slowdown on Terry's stage round 3 in Garou. Just double checked, and I am running off of v6. Let me know if there's any information that might help. I'm about to go through and check out all 3 rounds of every stage in Garou to see which levels are playable in v.6: we can cross-check them to see if it's just my machine, or something to do with my setup, or something that's fixable.

alright, so 21 rounds later, and the only stage with any slowdown is Freight Express round 3. Hope that helps!

It's not your setup if it only happens in specific stage. It's surely the Ram usage dedicated to those games when starting the nand manager. I've increased the value but maybe it's still not enough : https://github.com/libretro/fbalpha...mits/02310c9ff552df3cbd3ef58b9fdc220f81d53c9c
But we have so few kilobytes left!

I knew it wasn't ideal and thought about a core option. But it was simpler like this. And I thought it would be looked as one more mysterious settings.:)

Do you mind testing a bit the other games that may be affected too? It's mslug3, kof2000 and kof2003.

Sure. I'll start with the KoFs first, but I'll have to brush up on the branching level routes in Metal Slug 3 so I can do a thorough sweep. If anybody here is more knowledgeable about MS feel free to go for it haha.

[edit] KOF 2000

Every level played, no frame drops on any stage. So far so good!
I'll start 2003 later tonight.

@Wiimpathy

I've gone through Every stage in KOF 2003, and haven't encountered any slowdown other than during Blue Mary's winning animation on the Train level (probably just a one-off thing), so all in all, pretty solid already. I just started Slug 3, and there is still a slight frame drop when the eels charge into the wall on stage 1's bottom route; the level is still playable though. The final boss's brain ring energy attack hangs the game up a little bit when the screen flashes red, especially after your partner shows up in the UFO, but I'm not sure if that's the core or the game itself. (related aside: kof2003 is missing a resolution config in the pack you released)

Let me know if there are any other stress tests you could think of.

Here are 2 test builds attached to this post. Oldretro.zip is based on same retoarch as the builds in this thread. Newretro.zip is compiled with the latest retroarch.

@TheManHimself and maybe others could you test if it's better in Garou and Metal Slug 3 please?

However regarding MS3 I'm not sure but it could be the slowdowns that happens in real hardware(MS2 do that). It can be improved with cpu at 200% in core option.

I'm also afraid that because of this 1MB increased value Garou and MS3 won't start at all in the latest retroarch.
Well, maybe it wouldn't change anything anyway since nobody is able to launch the games with the latest official apparently.

You're right about kof2003 resolution. It's the same as other kof games. One just need to copy 1 of these .cfg and rename it to kof2003.cfg.
