Microsoft has made a pretty major reveal, prior to its E3 briefing. The company will be bringing its Xbox Game Pass service to PC, with over 100 available titles to play at launch. Developers and publishers such as Deep Silver, Bethesda, SEGA, Paradox, and more will be partnering up with Microsoft to allow their games to be played by PC players with an Xbox Game Pass subscription. Just like with the console version of the subscription service, first-party Microsoft titles will be playable on launch, which includes content from the newly acquired inXile and Obsidian Entertainment. Those that enjoy using the Microsoft Store will be able to make use of the service's 20% off Windows game purchases that are offered in the Xbox Game Pass library.

In an effort to give players more choice, Microsoft will also be bringing over 20 of its first-party games to the PC gaming storefront, Steam. Gears of War 5, Age of Empires, and over 20 more titles will be brought to Steam, following the release of Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC.

More information is slated for Xbox's E3 press conference, so we'll find out specific details and pricing in just a few weeks.

Two years ago, we launched Xbox Game Pass on Xbox One, and since then we’ve seen how valuable a curated library of high-quality games can be for players and game developers alike. It offers a great way to discover and play your next favorite game. We researched whether a similar opportunity exists for PC players and PC game developers, and we believe that it does. We also considered the importance of bringing something new and additive to the PC gaming ecosystem, and we believe that we can. So, we designed a service specifically for the needs of PC gamers and PC game developers. It’s called Xbox Game Pass, just like the original, but it’s a new experience that we are building together with the PC community.

Xbox Game Pass for PC will give players unlimited access to a curated library of over 100 high-quality PC games on Windows 10, from well-known PC game developers and publishers such as Bethesda, Deep Silver, Devolver Digital, Paradox Interactive, SEGA, and more. And just as we committed on the console, it is our intent to include new games from Xbox Game Studios in Xbox Game Pass for PC the same day as their global release, including titles from newly acquired studios like Obsidian and inXile. We’re working with over 75 developers and publishers to bring PC content to the service and we’ll ensure the library remains curated and full of great PC titles across a variety of genres, with new games added every month.

Xbox Game Pass for PC members will also receive discounts in the Microsoft Store on Windows of up to 20% on games currently in the library and up to 10% off related game DLC and add-ons.

We look forward to sharing more at E3, including the great games coming to the library, as well as more details on when and how you’ll experience the new Xbox Game Pass service for PC gamers.

Ouch, what a nightmare. I'd hate to do that on the shitty internet I have at home. Sigh. Why must we have AT&T U-verse?

I said this in the last Xbox thread I'll say it again, they are planning to take resources away from Xbox development. They've won, they got cross platform. Now the balls in their court to "fix Xbox live's toxicity" before it's "ready" for PSN crossplay

Rare and Microsoft have announced that Sea of Thieves will be coming soon on Steam. Sea of Thieves came out last year on Windows Store and aims to offer the essential pirate experience, from sailing and fighting to exploring and looting.

Sea of Thieves on Steam will feature Adventure mode and the latest updates, The Arena for PvP multiplayer, Maiden Voyage for brand-new players and everything in between. Rare has also confirmed cross play will allow Xbox One, Windows 10 and Steam users to set sail together. As such, players will be able to assemble their perfect pirate crew, whatever their preferred platform. However, do note that the Steam version will require Windows 10, and will not work on Windows 8 or 7.

Edit: Free update called Ships of Fortune is coming April 22
https://www.vg247.com/2020/04/07/sea-of-thieves-ships-of-fortune-update-april-22/

In the content update for Sea of Thieves, you have the option of becoming an emissary to one of the trading companies when Ships of Fortune releases.

Whether you choose Gold Hoarders, Merchant Alliance, Order of Souls or Athena’s Fortune, your special duty will allow you to earn boosted rewards from usual voyages plus new cosmetic rewards for performing well.
To become an emissary for one of the Outpost Trading Companies, you will need to speak with a representative at the Outposts and inspect the nearby table. Since the roles are “highly prized,” you will need to make a large donation to be handed the privilege.

You will be able to advance through five grades by representing your company by finding chests as a Gold Hoarder. The higher your grade, the bigger the multiplier you’ll get when cashing in your haul. Of
course, other pirates will know that an emissary’s ship is likely to be loaded down with loot so you better be on your guard.
Dress your ship up in your company of choice, and then prove your skills against other players in the competitive Emissary Ledger. Here you will be able to earn titles to increase your standing and compare your progress to that of others.

While sailing as an emissary you will get noticed by rivals, especially that of a new trading company called The Reaper’s Bones. The emissaries of this company have one objective: to take their rivals out and abscond with rival Emissary Flags as trophies.

The new company can be found at The Reaper’s Hideout if you would rather join it instead of the others.

Included with the new update are overhauled matches in the dedicated Arena mode. Old treasure maps have been replaced by a single chest marked by a Sea Dog Beacon, with just one cash-in location. Contest times are now only 15 minutes long.

Rare is also adding a new way for crews to look out for one another. Now, when pirates are defeated, there will be a brief window allowing crewmates to revive them before they are whisked off to the Ferry of the Damned. This should allow for quicker gameplay loops as well as some “new tactical choices for co-operative crews.”

If you are tired of parrots and monkeys as pets, the Pirate Emporium will now have cats. There are three breeds of felines available: the Wildcat, Ragamuffin, and Mau. There are a variety of color options for each, and you can even dress them up in outfits, some Legendary.

Elsewhere in the Emporium, you can also pick up the Night Wulf Ship Collection, and “crabby” new emotes.

For more information on the Ships of Fortune update, including full release notes, visit the Sea of Thieves website.
