My 3DS has had some problems.
  • The top and bottom screens of my 3DS are black
  • The blue light for the battery turns on, but nothing else
  • Won't load into GodMode9
  • Won't load into recovery mode
  • Won't load into the Luma config screen
  • No sound
I have tried
  • Deleting luma config.bin file
  • Making sure GodMode9 is in luma/payloads/
  • Renamed Godmode9 to x_godmode9.firm and start_godmode9.firm
  • Made sure arm9loaderhax.bin is in the SD
  • Deleting everything in payloads folder and putting arm9loaderhax.bin into it
  • Taking out battery while the 3DS is on
  • Took out the SD Card and started my 3DS
  • Installed latest Luma and Godmode9 (Latest boot.firm and godmode9.firm)
  • Used CFW starter kit on a new SD card to try
  • Leaving my 3DS on
  • Tried the 3DS Troubleshooting Guide
I have installed CFW (Luma), godmode9, boot9strap (not completely positive), and homebrew. I don't remember everything, but I used the 3DS Hacks Guide to get my CFW and hacks. I'm not sure what version my 3DS is. Everything was working until one day I put my 3DS into sleep mode and when I turned it back on the screens wouldn't turn on. I didn't do anything to it except leave it on a table. I have looked through all of the other threads with the same issue but still cannot find a solution. I really wanna use my 3DS again and would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Without SD, the blue light should turn off by itself. If this is not the case, well, it's bad.

If light doesn't turn off by itself and you did the NAND backup as the guide suggests, you still can recover with a hardware mod and flashing the backup.

If the light doesn't turn off by itself without SD and you don't have a NAND backup... you're sol. Please anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

As long as the (X) + (START) + (SELECT) + (POWER) buttons, gamecart slot, SD card slot, sleep switch, and the ARM CPU (SoC) are working, ntrboot will launch the sdmc:/boot.firm payload (ie, SafeB9SInstaller, Luma3DS, GodMode9) found on the SD card inserted in the 3DS system. A fully softbricked nand image (3DS firmware) or even the physical NAND chip missing on the motherboard will not stop ntrboot from working.

@pengewl421, your 3DS sounds like it no longer has custom firmware installed. Do you have a DS ntrboot compatible flashcart such as R4i Gold 3DS Plus?

I remember mine craped out and would not turn on unless it was plugged in

new 3ds XL... the powerboard (ABXY button board) failed, swaped with a working one and I was back in the game!
