Hi, I have a NDS Lite with a working R4 card. I would like to somehow download homebrew directly from my DS. I did try HomebreWifi, but it does seem that it is outdated. Also, I want to download from an online database, and NOT from a local computer. I do know that there is that "HBDB" from DSOrganize, but I cannot find any servers for that. I know that you can make a local database, but again i want to download from an online database. If you are aware of some servers or you do have your own server, then please let me know. Also let me know if you are aware of some other apps that can download homebrew directly to your DS. Thanks.

As to my knowledge, there are no existing servers for any such tool, probably because of the lack of WPA2 support. I do recall a tool that someone made recently, but it was for pirating ROMs and had no homebrew servers.

Maybe once WPA2 support is easy to implement, we could see it happen (although you would still have to use WEP, as only the DSi and above can use WPA2)

I do use WEP (I know it's a bad idea), but can you tell me what is that tool please? It doesn't really matter is it homebrew or not. Thanks.

Short of setting up a FTP or simple web server somewhere (DS side compression, file management and even DLDI patching is available) that one of the various DS browsers cares to speak to and doing it all yourself then there never really was anything like that, certainly nothing robust and with a complete or at least decent library.
It was not necessarily a new idea (Linux had existed for many years by this point, and equally many of the GP?? family and dingoo family had at least third party firmwares with proper repos) but it was not really until android and IOS took off that people put much effort into such things and it gained any kind of widespread appeal, and it was the rise of IOS (and then android) that took out DS homebrew so yeah.
