Xbox restarts itself after upgrading with rocky5

Previously, I had unleashx and wanted to use rocky5 to upgrade it. I tried using a DVD at 1st but it wouldn't get past "initializing" so I restarted. Then it wouldn't get past "retail 5101 bios detected" so I had to restart again. This time I tried the ftp method and that worked. I was able to go through the upgrade set up fine but when it went to restart to finalize everything it just kept restarting during the boot screen.

This is a used Xbox that was totally fine except for the power button. Pressing it does nothing so I have to press eject to turn the system on. Idk if this has anything to do with why it kept restarting buy I'm adding it in anyway

Hello.

The "Power Button" issue you mentioned can be related to an installed Modchip.
Earlier you need this "Feature" to active/deactive the Modchip to use XBox LIVE (without getting "Banned").
Maybe the Installation was not complete (this Feature is no longer needed) or maye something is not ok with it.

You can maybe check it by looking on the Left Side (seen from the Front):

It can be BLUE or RED.

Maybe you can also open your XBox and have a Look inside if you are not sure you have one:

I'm not that comfortably with hardware stuff since I don't 100% know what I'm looking at or for. I'll check it out but don't think I'll be able to do anything about it. But what about the restarting after using rocky5? Honestly, I can deal with the power button not working if it hasn't nothing to do with my it keeps restarting now.

There are many Options.

Nevertheless I would check if your XBox has an Modchip installed.

Does your XBox show the original XBox Logo on startup or a different one ?

Can you still boot from an Backup DVD or DVD-R ?
Unfortnately I neve rused Rocky5´s install disc,I always use SID (Software Installer Deluxe).

I think rocky5´s has also a NEW INSTALL Option,but needs the STOCK Content from Drive C: for sure.

Do you have a Backup from Drive C: ?

Yeah, when it was able to boot it showed the original boot animation. It's been awhile so I think I still have the backup saved? I have to check. I did use a dvd-r to try run rocky5 and, while it ran, it didn't go past "retail 5101 bios detected".

When I got the Xbox it wasn't modded so I softmodded it myself using splinter cell and unleashx. I don't think it has a mod chip installed since the seller didn't mention they modded it before.

Thank you,that is an important Information.

If you used the SPLINTER CELL Exploit,then you HAVE to Backup to the C: Drive File.Otherwise the Softmod can not performed/continued correctly.

And you have to use Caution,because if sometimg goes wrong with the Softmod,your Xbox maybe no longer works/boots correct !!
i will try to get the rocky5 DVD and try it to give you Feedback,

But maybe other Users here too can give you also Advises and Tips and help you,I am sure.

Ok,I got it (v1.1.7) and have to "report" no Issue:

I have used it as DVD on an v1.6 XBox with Softmod.

Good thing is,your XBox still boots Backup/DVD-R Discs.

Now to the "not so good" Report:
You said you have the Content as Application on the HDD and run it from there ?
Your XBox "hangs" after the BIOS Detection....unfortunately I have no Idea,why.....

Please be sure you have used Version 1.1.7.
Try to burn Rocky5´s Extra DVD again (please try a DVD+R and DVD-R,it depends on your XBox´es DVD Drive) and please use MAXIMAL 4x Speed on Burning and please try to Boot from it.

If this Step does not work:

You can maybe try to find a Download/ISO of the
Auto-Installer Deluxe v4.53 (updated 2018 or 2019)

Try to boot and see if you can get into Installation Menu.(it maybe takes a Time/a Minute).Then maybe we can re-install the Softmod on your XBox.

Thank you for helping me out this much! I'll try out the extra cd and get back to you to see if it'll even stay on long enough and also look into the auto installer.

Edit: I current don't have a blank dvd or a rewritable one at the moment. I'll update on how this all goes when I get the chance to.
