So now there is already a complete walkthrough on youtube....and cutscenes look and horrible. The game looks half finished. I wish I would of kept my pre-order cancelled.
My first thoughts:
So I am one of those people who got my hands on this bad boy on Monday and put about 25 hours into it so far.
Game Length:
It took me about 20 hours start to finish to collect all 8 badges, beat the champion and become champion. In that time I caught/evolved 95 different Pokemon so I didnt just bolt it towards the endgame. The game doesnt let you get lost, and kinda spoon feeds you where to go, not that its a bad thing.
Wild area:
So the wild area is the center area where all of the max raids occur, you can run around and search for the raids and fight dynamax pokes with npc's to get some interesting loot from them. Examples of loots will be a couple EXP candies in various sizes, and TR's (TM's that have limited use) The TR's are good moves too like flamethrower, psychic, dragon claw, outrage etc, depending on the Pokemon you fought in the raid) I find them to be either extremely simple or impossible depending on what you are fighting. The impossible ones are because they wipe out your NPC team forcing you to lose, of course this would be remedied if you were playing with real people. When you beat a max raid the Pokemon can be caught, im not sure if its 100% but it has been for me for 20+ raids. The thing that threw me off in the Wild area was how you could be walking around, see a pokemon in the overworld and walk into it and it could be 20 levels higher than you, not let you run and obliterate you. Didn't see that happen to me in other pokemon games.
Finding and catching Pokemon:
I find that catching pokemon is pretty similar to different games, sometimes it can be frustrating to find the exact pokemon you are looking for. I use the pokedex to see where I should be finding a pokemon and go there, sometimes it takes forever to find exactly what you are looking for. An example is that new Steel/Dragon pokemon Duraludon, it said its in rt 10, and it took forever to find it, I was only able to find it as an overworld sprite and not in a random battle.
Conclusion
Overall, I dont see why everyone put so much hate to it. Its a pretty good game, Im still exploring the end game, messing around with breeding pokemon to fill up the dex as much as I can. There's lots of replayability and Im not even utilizing the online stuff.

no town map there is a world map but not a town map ,pokemon distant popups and humans ,battles are to easy

i found out if you cirkel your caracter very fast with the left stick he wil do a spin and a stupid dance move lol
A groups of talked about in length, during a live stream with a youtuber. The glitch only effects digital copies.
Watched for 3 hours during a live stream by “NBC”. He’s gonna be live again soon. Plans on doing the whole game of shield on live stream. Chating with him and others during the live stream, got me excited to play sword. After I am done work in about 4 hours. I am gonna start the game. Didn’t get a chance to yet.
Graphics don't make the game good. the story does. aside from that, these games are pretty decent. whis they would have added a bigger wild area tho
I wish the wild area had rng NPCs and NPC champs every time you load up the game. Plus several other real players walking around when online. It is emptier than Zelda.
i don't agree tho and graphics don't make a game good but it can play a big role to the experience you're having. That's like saying '' i don't care how bad the sex is as long as the story in total is good '' So you should play nethack then since it has a great amazing story but i'm pretty sure graphics wise you won't play it for that long

Given how little they changed, I agree it should be $40 like previous entries. Even games that remain mostly unchanged over the years still have development costs to cover, however. Otherwise every new CoD game would be free.

yes young children are their core demographic and always were. in many ways, we were lucky they ever put as much thought into the competitive side of these games at all.
getting rid of HMs was easily the one change to the series that was actually a good idea.
no one i knew rotated pokemon back in the day when we were young.
everyone had like 2 pokemon that they used exclusively and they were 10 levels ahead by the 2nd gym, with eventually the cover legendary joining.
the games have always been easy no matter what and they will always remain so. for you and me anyways because we're very much aware of all the important details of the battle system and the addition of physical/special and abilities, definite improvements to the game, did make things easier for us too cause we got more toys to exploit.
ignorance was the only thing making red and blue at all 'hard'. my brothers beat the first two gens without even being able to read (one taught himself while playing though).
granted, I'm not a huge fan of all the one pokemon trainers, but things also weren't harder when trainers had more pokemon.
because you got much more experience and leveled up even more.
there's literally nothing you can do to make this game harder without making it needlessly frustrating. even now, when it hobbles your exp gain, it works out easily.
yeah you can make it like in those hard hacks but man, like a couple thousand people play them if at all. that's not going to sell at all.
10 hours in to the game, a lot of fun so far. Honestly, for all the gripes people may have with the game, the way it's structured perfectly compliments my playstyle - I'm fine with EXP share because I prefer leveling all interesting pokemon equally (much more fun to keep a large pool of pokemon up to par, rather than pick and overlevel 6-10 ones), lackluster singleplayer doesn't bother me since I'm all into multiplayer anyway (and multiplayer is better than ever), and considering I prefer to treat my pokemon more like "virtual pets" than anything, pokemon camp/curry cooking is absolutely fantastic and a cure for my depression In a way, that's what makes this game so polarizing among different players - you have to get into it with a very specific set of expectations and preferences in mind, which is why some people end up loving the title, while others consider it an absolute atrocity.
