i answer this in another thread but you can rebuild the nand
Thanks, I will definetely give it a try. Can you help me to get some things clear? "ou cannot use files for firmwares 6.2.0-8.1.0 as the ChoiDujour PC application does not support " Does this mean, that I have to use something like 5.1 and I cant you 9.0 for example? And it says that I need keys.txt. I have prod.keys generated by Lockpick. Can I use them or can you point me forward a guide for getting keys.txt?

corrent you first rebuild the nand using fw 4.1.0-6.1.0. and you need keys.txt for lower fw. step 8 seems to help recover them

Still cant get my head around it. It says that I need keys in preparation step and in 1st step with Choi on PC. So long before step 8. I dont understand how it works. Should I just google some else's keys for older fw version? Should I somehow convert my prod.keys to keys.txt? That keys part seems complicated as hell

with prod.key file all you need to do is rename it to keys.txt done make sure windows shows file extensions

Probably a stupid question but...
I am looking to get another hackable switch which is on 9.0. Can i create an emunand and then downgrade the emunand to 8.1.0? I have read that xci backups run better on 8.1.0.

the idea is to get a switch on lowest fw then update it with tool. so get one on lower fw then create a emunand then update that to 8.1.0 and update sysnand to 9.0 both with this tool to avoid fuse burnt count

Hey man, trying to follow this guide, its been good so far, but now Im stuck while using memloader. It says that I need LINUX UMS DISK 0 and not USB Download Gadget. But I get a very different thing. Just "disk storage"/ Tried using it with injecting memloader payload and directly mounting through tegrarcmgui. Did all the things from the guide. Whats interesting that in information it says LINUX UMS DISK 0. Am I doing something wrong or it fine? Actual size of 4.19mb seems right DSJI11qX_o8.jpg

I have a question I'd very much wish answered...
I once updated to 8.0.1 using ChoiDujourNX and later found my switch back on 7.0.1 and I recall deleting some files to save up space on my MicroSD card.

Are installed updates related to any files I could have deleted?
And is it possible to permanently update the NAND to avoid any future problems?
I'm completely banned anyway and SXOS already runs on 9.0.0.

were you using emunand?
you could be deleting the emunand files and currently booting to sysnand on older fw

I have absolutely no idea.
I don't even recall bothering with emunand since I have no real use of it in my situation.
because updates are not stored anywhere in the sd card, so the only logical explanation I can think of for now is you were using file based emunand and accidentally deleted it
no idea what else could cause that

At least is it safe to update again from 7.0.1 to 9.0.0 but this time hopefully on NAND?
Switch scene is moving so fast and I have much less time to check all that's happening.

I'll create a NAND backup either way just in case anything goes wrong but I'd wish to keep surprises to a minimum.

should be safe
many people would recommend you to update to 8.1.0 instead of 9.0 because of homebrew compatibility, gamecart slot etc but if you don't care for any of that then you can update to 9.0

Hey guys,

So many great posts, really helping me to quickly get to grips with it all.

So my Switch is 8.0.1 OFW, and I boot with a jig into SXOS 2.7.1. (I think it’s SysNAND as the version only shows in settings as “8.0.1” and nothing displayed after it)

I’m looking to update to 8.1.0 as there’s been a number of times now, to play a specific game, I’ve needed to update the system.

As I really don’t want to muck anything up, is it literally now just a case of putting the ChoiDuJourNX nro file and the required firmware into a folder and putting both onto the micro SD?

Massive thanks for your replies in advance.

I don't think sx os override version strings to show whether you're on sysnand or emunand

but yes, simply put nro in the switch directory and the firmware somewhere in the sd card and you're good to go

Cheers man, just to confirm - does this have to be done through homebrew menu, or can I just do it through the album once booted in CFW (via SXOS) where it shows .nro files such as SXdumper, and Goldleaf?

once I install 8.1.0, will it reboot into OFW, and so I’d need to turn off and then boot back into CFW?

thanks for your reassurance, I’m sure you appreciate the first time you go to try this, it can be a little daunting
