So ive been using SX PRO since launch and had no issues, I just tried 2 new games "My time at Portia" and "Iconclasts" neither of which worked it just came up with "The game card could not be read" I checked the dumps and ran a CRC hash from the files on the SD card and they are fine, I've played hundreds of games (older ones) with no issues but I've never updated the OFW of the switch its on 5.1.0 (I am using latest version of SX PRO)

I assume this is the issue, my console FW is too old? I tried adding several older games to the SD card they were fine.

Should I update to the latest OFW?

If so do I reinstall the NAND backup I originally made then connect to the internet update, disconnect and make a new NAND backup?

Don't know if this error is related to FW version, but it depends on where you play them. If on SysNAND, update your SysNAND (OFW/CFW). If on EmuNAND, update your EmuNAND.

Then you need to update whatever you play on. Does not matter how (officially or choidujournx).
Is there a benefit to updating using choidujournx looks more complicated but is it safer than online? am I able to do it off line?

But as I said, I don't know if that error is caused by low FW.
I have nothing else to go on all old games work, all CRC hashes are correct of failing new carts and SX PRO is up to date.

choidujournx is safer and can install autoRCM so that you don't burn any fuses.

Looks scary, I assume the only benefit to saving fuses is to downgrade?

I've just thought i will have to back up my saves somehow first before restoring NAND too

Scary? All you do is put FW files on your SD and then navigate the nice UI.
It is mainly for downgrading,
If you want to save your saves, you need to back them up.

[SOLVED] - Updating OFW fixed non-working new games (error: The game card could not be read) .

Now on 8.0.1
Was pretty much the procedure I thought, If anyone else needs to do the same heres how I did it.

1. Using SX Installer to backup ALL saves from the .XCI files in one go.
2. Restored the original NAND backup I had previously made when I started using SX OS
3. Booted OFW, connected to the Internet adding a new WiFi connection and updated the OFW to the latest (current 8.0.1)
4. After update and reboot, I removed the internet connection setting and disconnected from the internet again.
5. Rebooted into SX OS and did a new backup NAND dump.
6. Using SX Installer restored each save 1 by 1, (although 3 of them failed!!! I'm not worried about those games, the other 40 or so are were fine.)

Done.

The games now run fine.
