Nope, this is because the nxtheme format is much different, while extracting the image is not hard getting the layout back would be impossible without the original szs you used to make that theme.

Well, I took a stab at it and made my first theme... ever! for anything! That's how easy the tool and included layouts were to use.

I'm a filthy pirate, so it's Piracy themed, using a couple iterations of The Pirate Bay's (RIP) logos, some treasure map gfx, and a modification of XKCD's Online Communities map using the XKCD Font. Link includes the theme files, previews, source images, and PSD of the map with separate layers (if you wanna make your own version)

Let me know if you have feedback on it, or layouts you think would work better!

[Edit: upload updated to version 2-- matched the color of the two parchments for a more unified look and other minor tweaks]

Hey there man how are you!? Sorry for the late reply I went on vacation for awhile.

As you know I've been gone a long while, with work and raising my kid. All around messing with the Wii U, while fun just wasn't anywhere near as exciting as the Wii days or what's happening with the Switch scene now. I'm back, but still won't be as involved as I used to be, at least for now. Need more free time lol. I'll PM you in regards to the themes, but now with NXTheme builder I'm thinking we should see a lot more activity here. Hopefully @exelix11 starts sending more discord users over here to start posting stuff

And also dude I hear ya: WiiU took FOREVER to get any kind of homebrew...I think like on it's last year of life it got homebrew lol it was such a shame too. I always wanted the WiiU to get some crazy custom theme creations by the community but I don't even think it ever got that. Call me crazy but..as much as I liked my WiiU and my Switch; I STILL prefer my Wii and it's era with all that exciting homebrew. I do hope the scene picks up with the Switch.

No doubt there my friend, I got the same handle on Switch as I do here, I think you do too, stupid I still can't send you a message yet on the Switch to get down, but if I see you on there or vice versa I'll reach out here or might have to use the dumbass app lol whether it's Kart or Smash I'll be there.

EDIT: Oh and yea the WiiU Brew Scene was pretty weak, like you said unfortunate cuz it was a pretty cool device but just didn't garner that much love, it was pretty freaking slow. There was nothing like the Wii days for me, between (v)SNEEK, Dios-MIOS, Quadforce, WiiFLOW, Cyan's very own USBL-GX, hmm was it NINTENDONT (can't remember now) and a motherload of other brew, it was just golden days for me. Good times. Still have it hooked up and gets a monthly boot up or two cuz it's just so damn fun.

Has anyone done a write-up to make layout editing a little less intimidating? I'd like to try my hand at it, but I'm not even sure what half the element labels refer to. Didn't see anything on the subreddit, but maybe I just wasn't looking in the right place.

After a vote we decided to remove all SZS themes from the nxthemes subreddit now it's 100% legal, you can go there to share or look for custom themes (only .nxtheme format ofc)

I love how this is evolving into something like anemone for the 3ds. Hope background music will someday be implemented for themes, as well as multi-theme (auto changes).

You can already shuffle themes with the installer, however at the moment it does need a full reboot (and for the forseeable future)

Oh wow, I was not aware of that! I assume this was a new feature to the nxtheme nro. Do you know if the theme shuffled works with szs files? (as which I've used up to now). Or does the theme shuffle work with the new theme format only?

When you say it needs a reboot, I know on initial shuffle install, it will need to be rebooted to see effect. But does a reboot need to happen each time to see the shuffle take place?

First point - not sure if it works with szs files too, if they can be installed in the nro, then most likely

Second point - it NEEDS a reboot.

Yes, it works for szs as well and yes the theme changes every time you reboot, this is because it's not possible to hotswap the theme yet.
That said you should try the nxtheme format because it works on every firmware and it's legal to share so most theme makes are moving to the NXThemes subreddit, and the guide to set it up now it's easier than ever.
(The NXThemes installer nro will still support szs themes anyway)

help i cannot get this theme installer to work!!

I am on sx os 2.5.1 beta, running 6.0

I have the themes folder with with .nxtheme files in folders, i have my keys and fuses saved via hekate, i have my keys extracted and saved via lockpick

I delete all the titles folders from both atmosphere and sx folders

I extracted the home menu by pressing +

when i go to install a theme it immediately crashes to error 2168-0002

what do I do? sd card is exfat and working perfectly

Mh... Weird it could be possible that your sd card is corrupted, it happens with exfat, I'd say try with another sd or format your current one to FAT32

there has to be another reason every install file operation and other process BESIDES nxtheme is flawless, nxtheme is the ONLY broken part of my setup

my info is dumped correctly and sd is formatted correctly and filetree is correct, what gives?

Idk, but nobody reported this issue so i assume it's something on your end. You could even have bad nxtheme files, try the one i attached, it's the one i use for testing and should work. If it fails as well try older versions of the installer from github. If none of this work i really idk and the only thing you can try is to format the sd and redump your szs files

would deleting the titles folders in atmosphere/renix/sxos affect this?

the app now crashes on startup, not on theme install

lockpick works, hekate works, hb is 3.0
media player works, psnes works, mgba works, nxthemes crashes immediately on both sxos and hekate/atmosphere

sx 2.0 official and 2.5.1 beta, on 5.0.1, 5.1, and 6.0
