try unsetting and setting the clock when this happens.Good afternoon everyone, i am having a strange issue. When i play retroarch (Overclocked max settings)N64 roms in docked mode it runs great. When i take it out to play it in hand held mode it slows down, plays slowly and lags a bit. When i put it back in Tv docked mode it no longer does that, how can i solve this?
There isn't a GPU overclock yet iirc. The cpu clock is constant in the first place on the switch. The gpu clock is 384MHz portable 768MHz docked. The ram is also 1331/1600Good afternoon everyone, i am having a strange issue. When i play retroarch (Overclocked max settings)N64 roms in docked mode it runs great. Are you using the .nsp?I tried 2 N64 roms, one of the San Franciso RUSH games and dont remember the other, but both of them would load and then crash my Switch.....
Are you using the .nsp?
You need the nsp to launch n64 games, get it from OP here https://gbatemp.net/threads/retroarch-switch.492920/Nope.
I use hblauncher or SX OS launcher but both ways it still crashes.
There is a GPU overclock. But unlike the CPU overclock, the GPU overclock does significantly increase the heat and power consumption, which is why it isn't really used in anything (also it isn't really needed)There isn't a GPU overclock yet iirc. The start menu delay in OoT is a bug that plagues a lot of emulators, there's actually a cheat code you can use that fixes it.After sucesfully installing the overclocked version. (NSP Version using SX OS installer)
Using overclocked max settings (Nintendo 64 games)
1.Ocarina of time: Runs ok, the selection menu needs like 5 seconds before displaying menu items, etc. I had some black square dots in the display figures such as bombs and some areas of the map were dark, not colored but did not affect the performance of the game. I tried other roms and had same results.
Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask:Runs Faster and Smoother than OOT. Played at least 3-4hours docked, no issues all sounds, attacks, etc. Great performance.
Diddi kong Racing: I played it around 15-30 minutes, then the game started to display black square dots on the item counter, started spreading and ultimately goes off Displaying the infamous display "The software turned off because an Error Ocurred"
I tried different roms of the game and had the same result.
Super Smash Bros 64: Runs great when it is 1Vs1 When there is more player presence (1vs3), it slows down a bit.
Does anybody know the solution to the mentioned issues earlier? Im still doing some more test runs though.
can you rephrase that I don't understand what you are askingWondring if u need few roms to duplcate the roms from jap and eng to match up the usa to run it better like the arcade roms ??

64 and PSX games should now be running at fullspeed thanks to the upcoming Switch overclocking methods! These emulators seem heavily constrained by the default stock clock speed.
Tru. The version m4xw made a couple months ago runs better than the available pcsx overclocked. Unfortunately, his version doesntthe emulators should not need over clocking to run. Better coding is need for optimization
There’s been huge progress on mupen64 recently lol, there’s now a pretty much fully functional aarch64 dynarec which will be ported to Switch soonPsx doesn't need over clicking to run at full speed.
I've been playing loads of ps1 games and using shaders too.
N64 however I question what changes because mupen64 is still buggy regardless if you overclock, and this isn't going to change unless someone improves on the core.
So no news that the core has been worked on so again I think this is rubbish news.
Also I would strongly discourage anyone overclocking their console as your essentially going to make your console die sooner.
Are you sure about that? From what I've read 1.75ghz too much for the switch for long periods. There’s been huge progress on mupen64 recently lol, there’s now a pretty much fully functional aarch64 dynarec which will be ported to Switch soon
These overclocks are perfectly fine for the cpu, the CPU the Switch has is specifically designed to run at 2ghz, the highest “overclock” we have is 1.75ghz, which is below its intended speed...
