So I have an old 3ds with Luma3ds and it was running fine since I bought it. Until I tried to open it this morning, it wont boot. The blue led lights up, but nothing shows at the screen. Any help? I tried searching online but there's too many and I'm scared I might make it worse If I do it without knowledge

I bought it Used btw. I had cfw when I got it. It also won't turn on when the sd card isn't inserted. I didn't ask the original owner about it when I got it because I thought it was normal until a friend of mine showed me he can still use his 3ds without the sd card inserted

Any help will be so much appreciated

Is there any music or background noises you can here when the screen is sitting on the black screens?
Unfortunately, none. No sounds, can't turn on wireless communications

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Most likely corrupt MicroSD card. I hope you have a backup.
I don't have any. I hope it's not corrupted though. There are many saves in it

had anything out of the normal happen with the console the night before when you could use it?
I placed it on the bed after I played it this morning, then I left the house for an errand. When I get back the 3ds is now on the other side of the bed and I heard my 5 and 8 year old cousins lied on the bed

If my sd card is corrupted what should I do? Get a new one then reinstall CFW?

If this is a corrupt SD card, try the steps in this post.

o3DS / o3DSXL / o2DS models will boot with black screens or not at all if the WiFi module is loose or unplugged. Maybe your cousins knocked yours off.
Disassemble and take a peek.

If its a curropted sd,there is a simple fix

Backup all the files to the pc

Then format the sd to fat32

Once thats done, download the latest version of luma 3ds and put the boot.firm on the root along with a folder called luma.If done correctly you shouldnt have a problrm booting unless you corrupted your nand.

Will my save data be restored after this process?

Ok, while I haven't done anything to my 3ds yet (waiting for my screwdriver to arrive since the smallest we have still doesn't fit) Many people who have experienced the same problem says that their problem started with leaving the console to sleep mode for a long time. I left mine on sleep mode for about an hour while a game is running. You guys think it has something to do with my problem?

1 hour isn't that long of a sleep duration. Even if the 3DS experienced a crash in sleep, you would need a screwdriver anyhow to access the back panel and reset with battery removal/reinsertion.

It's dangerous to leave the 3DS in sleep mode for a long time? I almost never turn off my 3DS
I don't recommend using sleep mode unless you're in a middle of a game and can't get to a save point. When not in use, turn off the 3DS/2DS and don't leave it plugged in with the AC charger once it's done recharging the battery. For long term storage, charge the battery at 50%, remove it from the system, and store it in a dry/cool/dark storage area. Although the risk is extremely small, a battery left in the 3DS can trickle charge wearing out the micro-fuses, and if it's near end of life expectancy/has bad cells, it can swell or explode damaging the case and cosmetics. ← Might as well contain the damage to the battery alone than come back finding your baby is fugly.

While there's no proof prolong use of sleep mode will damage the 3DS system, several long time members here had the displeasure of troubleshooting the once deadly Black Screens of Death with working sound in HOME Menu as was referenced by @lone_wolf323's post #7.
What was so baffling about this bug was that some users reported putting their 3DS in long term sleep and then flipping open the screens to find theirs in a comatose state. It was later determined (thanks to @gisel213 discovery) that a failed camera module out of all things caused this bug that seemed like a software issue with the 3DS firmware. This is why troubleshooting 3DS/2DS systems requires taking into consideration both hardware and software aspects because of their poor redundancy when components fail. @Extrasklep, you now know why I gave you a hard time about your o2DS touchscreen and cameras in your thread.

This is just my theory, but I think the cameras are still functioning while the 3DS is in sleep mode. If this is true, sleep mode causes an expedient rate of wear on either front camera failing to focus on seeing up close, front IR LED burning out (n3DS and n3DSXL models only), or whatever with the two (2) rear cameras saw that freaks them out (spooky ghosts?).

Does sleep mode ~ camera wear (if it exists) apply for every 3DS or 2DS systems? Eh, beats me.
