Hello
Id like to know what is the safest way to play backup without getting banned
And even if its the safest, i guess there are chance to get banned as well if we dont take precaution, right?
I dont solder though, so no "tiny soldering" please

I heard that a major hardware exploit got fixed on recent switch
But mine was bought in may 2017, so i guess i have access to this one
However, my switch is fully updated afaik

So yea, what is the safest way to play backup and what precaution should i take? Like turning off wifi or such...
Thanks

No it's not safe. If you connect to CFW then connect to Wifi (doesn't have to be at the same time) you will probably get banned eventually, although it could take months.

If you don't care about getting banned your Switch can be hacked for free with just joycon mod or buying SXOS. If you care about getting banned, forget it.

The SAFEST way is to stay offline permanently. Simple as that
Well, actually, i want a way to play backup AND play physical games i boot online
As for backup, i dont mind to not go online with them

There is no way to be safe. If you do any modification to your switch, no matter how small, you either have to remain offline forever or be flagged for ban. Either way, you will never be able to go online again.

Erasing the logs won't work, as that would make you even more suspicious. Doing anything else to try and prevent it is also pointless. The only way to not get banned is to not hack/mod or do anything with your switch that Nintendo doesn't want you to.

It's kind of annoying how unhelpful people are. Yes of course you can't guarantee that you don't get banned. But that doesn't mean there aren't somewhat safe ways to do it. Staying offline while in cfw and playing backups IS SAFER than being online. Using xci instead of nsp IS SAFER. It's not a guarantee but it's still something. Instead of always answering with the stock answer "only safe way is to buy another switch" which is unhelpful, I wish people would at least give advice for those that are willing to risk the chance. You don't even know the chance, many people are still doing fine unbanned, even while others are banned. Of course there is no way to be 100% safe, that's always true. But it's not helpful to leave it at that.

I want to add that the op specifically asked for this as well. He acknowledged the chance in his post already while asking for the safest way anyway. Answer his question at least.

Because you're wrong there is no safe way. Do you know what safe means? That means no risk. There is a huge risk going online after using CFW. See all the posts of people getting banned daily on GBATemp. I told him it could take months to get banned and that is accurate. It's kind of annoying how you're spreading wrong info.

What does safer mean can you tell me that? He can't. It's either safe or it's not. He doesn't know what Nintendo's doing to know if it's safer. There's still a risk you can get banned so it's not safe, period. He's a troll and you need to accept reality there's no safe way to use online after using CFW.

While there are no methods that 100% prevent bands, there are some that are riskier than others, thus some SAFER than others. Using .XCI is indeed SAFER than using .NSP and the ban logs verify this

I'm pretty sure I've read you can restore OFW from a NAND dump and use that to go online without getting banned.
So be sure to follow the precautions before hacking it, that way you can go back to stock firmware and use online features.

If you use CFW, don't expect online to be an option ever again. Why is it so hard to understand guys?
Apparently, flashcards are impossible.

That's the safest thing you can do. Restore clean NAND.

This is what i have read as well. I dont understand why there are so many people in this thread saying as soon as you use CFW you should just not even bother trying to use the same switch online.

If you backup your OFW NAND Before launching CFW, and you dont burn any fuses im pretty sure that is 100% safe? As in you have to restore your clean NAND everytime you want to play online, and then you have to make sure to not burn any fuses when doing any updates?

Me personally, am waiting for someone to put a guide together where i can play online and with CFW (I dont mind having to restore NAND everytime i want to make the switch [pun intended]) But so far ive stayed on the FW that came with my switch and am using SXOS and never connecting to wifi. I'm too afraid to even update to v6.0.1 but so far the only game which hasn't worked is Mario Tennis Aces. Even pokemon lets go works on the firmware i am on (4 or 5).

If someone could please make a dummies guide to restoring there clean nand and being able to make a new backup of it to switch between CFW and online OFW play, that would be amazing! in the mean time i will continue to hold off any online or updating shenanigans.

Restoring a clean NAND works, I've done it multiple times. The thing is you have to put your Switch in airplane mode before making the dump and never turn it back on until the next NAND restore.
As for using CFW online, I've been playing Splatoon 2 online (using LayeredFS for custom music) for almost a month now, no ban so far (Atmosphere CFW), but my NAND is clean (no NSP, no backups, only legit games).
