Original cart or rom? You should be able to use a rom with bootstrap.

I used to play it with my R4 on N3DS so it works 4 sure.

I have been playing the rom in Twilightmenu++

Just have to look for the right one because the first one that I got was bad and froze on the main menu

Managed to play it on my Ace2Kard on my old 3dsxl so I doubt you can't.
