Hacking What do I need...

All I want is to be able to mess with saves, I dont want to run pirate games, or anything else, just need the barebones to be able to rip saves and put them back. My Switch is 4.1.0, and I am not sure what all I need to make this happen. I figured someone here would be able to run me through it.

Able - yes, willing - no. Well that goes for me.

On your firmware version - you'd need the "full CFW treatment" that anyone wanting to go for piracy would need as well. Minus piracy enabling sigpatches (but you'll install them as well at one point - I bet

), if you go with Atmosphere. If you dont go with sigpatches, you might have no (/limited?) ability to install nsp's - which you shouldnt need either (just to mod savefiles) - which in return might leave you with a slightly lower risk to get banned - but the risk, as far as I understand, is still very much there (as soon as you run CFW).

So no special treatment needed, pick an tutorial (preferably Atmosphere - as RaiNX is even more assiciated with Piracy, but function wise - you could install that as well..

) and go for it. You'll have a risk of being banned though.

No way to get rid of it.

Seeing as CFW is tethered/temporary and most have the HBMenu for save edits built in, it might be easier to use one such as ReiNX. Just make sure you aren't in CFW while going online, this will likely get you banned. Guide here - https://reinx.guide

Now the issue here is, that - as far as we argue among each other - its having one wrong "error code, caused by CFW crashing in a CFW specific way" that can get you banned.

The error logs are persistant, and remain the same regardless of if you booted into CFW or OFW. We also dont delete them, because that gets us banned as well.

The more "bad stuff" you do in CFW, (installing certs that are known pirated software) the higher the ban risk gets for you (presumably), but the risk is there from the beginning the first time you launch into CFW. (Which is why we have you make your nand backup and block Nintendo via DNS - BEFORE booting into CFW. So they dont see - and you can get back to "a known clean state" - before you let them see again.)

There is also NO reason to go with ReiNX over Atmosphere (or Atmosphere over ReiNX) in this case apart from people wanting to have others do what they bought into, just to feel better.

And that overall is the issue with idiots giving tech support. Without using treediagram manuals.

Have your Switch banned - because some idiot wished you happy funzies, and told you a trick that doesnt work.

Was really hoping I could avoid a major bit of the hacks but, looks like that aint the case. Thanks for the info peeps, now to go dig through this guide for a bit and figure that all out.

The thing is - on the other hand you have people, that swear, that they have played just xci's in that CFW we dont dare speak of, offline - and used online during the same period - for six months without getting banned. And we have people that as soon as they sneeze on CFW - the are banned as well. So, yeah.

From a theoretical point (the stuff we argue), you have a ban risk from the first moment you are running CFW.

And the risk is yours to shoulder/deal with.

ReiNX pretty much guarantees a ban tho

(as it pretty much tells nintys telemetry that your using it)
