PlayStation systems reach 500 million sales, limited PS4 console announced to celebrate

Since the launch of the original PlayStation in 1995, it, and its successors have been popular worldwide. To this day, the PlayStation 2 sold over 155 million units, and has the highest sales number compared to any game console ever. With the PlayStation 4 on track to eclipse the total amount of sales that the PlayStation 3 made through its lifetime, it was hardly a surprise when Sony revealed that over 500 million PlayStation branded systems have been sold. To celebrate this achievement, Sony will be releasing a very limited edition PS4 Pro console. Only 50,000 of these consoles will be created, and they'll be selling for $499.99. The special console comes in a dark blue color, with a translucent see-through casing, a PlayStation Camera, a headset, and a special controller. You can also opt to buy the controller alone for $64.99. Both will go on sale for a short amount of time on August 24th.

Do little research Sony is the #1 electronic manufacturing company in Japan.

Sony TV's are the most sold in the world.

Bleh, last Sony TV I had, went to shit in just over a year. One before that lasted maybe 4 years. They look pretty at first but too quickly go to shit.

Me too, and sadly my experiences go beyond their TVs: headphones, even one of their smartphones all seemed like high quality products at first, but in time all proved to not be the most well built devices, my buddy's Vaio laptop proved to be a similar situation as well. Thank God their Playstations have overall been quality products because for me, at least over the last decade or so, those are the only products of theirs I can safely rely on (and don't even get me started on the 'quality' of their films (with the rare exception like Spiderman Homecoming) these days).

Sony has nothing *for* the PS4 that appeals to me, intentionally makes shitty and unreliable hardware, and their utter refusal to offer any avenue for being able to play prior-gen games directly on the PS4, erases any motivation for me to ever have a Sony console. Especially after being fresh from dealing with my 5th (and last) PS3, now dead. On top of that, my regular PSP 3000 first lost its UMD drive, then its screen and home bar at the same time. And the PSP go won't even stay on, charge or operate anymore.

Sony won't even allow a Katamari on PS4, let alone help fund one. Past that, no Sony specific release appeals to me. At all.

Call it salty, but I don't give a damn. I'm sick of Sony's shittily built hardware, and their utter refusal to make anything reliable.

Congrats to Sony! I glad to have PS4 with me! I still love with PS4 because of very strong sales of games.

I was look at Nintendo Wii U and almost buy it but I drop it and force myself to buy PS4 instead of Nintendo Wii U. I can see why Nintendo Wii U have few good games but most Wii U games are not good. I'm shocked PS4 have a lot of good games than Wii U due to strong sales and very popular. I find it out and I'm right!

I still look forward to Dragon Quest 11 and Dragon Quest Builder 2 for PS4 will be awesome and epic! I own Dragon Quest Builder game on disc and I love so much! Can't wait to buy more great PS4 games come soon in few months and in near future.

I wish PS4 can play Zelda, Mario, etc games from Nintendo. I look for new games which are similar to Zelda, etc then I would buy them for my PS4. :)

I not interest to buy PS4 Pro, I heard Pro get overheat easily maybe not have good vent enough for air to go in and out to keep system cool. I'm not interest in VR games and VR devices because it can damage our eye retina cause to blind for long time play that what doctor said. Due to blue light is doing more harm to our eyes. I'm big old school gaming fans. I will go to buy PS5 which have PS4 support built in then buy it in around year 2022 - 2026 when go on sale plus price cut. If PS5 don't have disc drive built in for both PS4 and PS5 game disc, then I won't buy it. I'm old school fans for disc based like PS1, PS2 and PS3. Same like NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, GB/GBC/GBA/DS and 3DS (cartridge and disc). No digital for me period. :)
