I haven't played any of these games, but I'm curious to give them a try. I know Origins is the newest and possibly bestest, and I think in terms of timeline it's set before the others, but that doesn't necessarily mean I should start there. I probably won't get to playing every single game because there's a lot of them, but should I try and do some in the right order to get into the story shit?
I'd be playing on PS4, which doesn't have every one of the games, including not the first one, but it's got quite a few by the looks of it. I'm not sure if my laptop would be able to run the oldest ones, it's got an Intel HD 3000.

Anyway what do you think? Cheers.

You could probably just start where ever, to be perfectly honest, because while some of the games are "connected" and are sequels to previous games, they're designed in such a way that if you're new to the series you can just start with whatever and not miss out on too much.

But if you're intent on understanding all the references, I would probably just start with 2 and go from there, because the first game plays very little like 2+ and isn't all that good (IMO). You could grab the Ezio collection to play it on your PS4 (your PC ain't gonna play em, sorry :P) and then grab the newer ones as you go.

AC: Black Flag is another place you can start, and is (once again, IMO) the absolute best entry in the series.

Thanks mate, good suggestions. You're the second person to say that Black Flag is the best. I torrented it yesterday for future use...

Start from 2, it's the best one imo, and it still is a very solid game. Starting from later entries and going back to it might be awkward, though, so it's best to kinda follow in a chronological order.

1 is basically a test demo, with great environments, but terrible combat. 2, Brotherhood, and Revelations are all a mini trilogy, and are usually considered the peak of the series. From there, 3, 4, and Rogue are another connected trilogy, but I'd say out of those, you're best off skipping 3. Unity, Syndicate, and Origins are all slightly tied together, but not really, and you can kinda play those in any order.

If you wanna just play the best of the best, then do 2, Brotherhood, 4, Rogue.

Enjoy yourself! And be careful not to get too burnt out with all the cookie-cutter content! That is, don't bother with most of the map icons, they're there to pad game hours. The main story is typically very enjoyable by itself. Exception: Black Flag. I loved the naval gameplay in that game, and the side stuff was just an excuse to do more of it

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.

  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
Well, from what I've heard from my parents, he had a seizure last night, perhaps an epileptic episode, fucking died, had a near death experience, my dad called the paramedics, they showed up, took him to the hospital, and he woke up covered in tubes, and started complaining.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
He couldn't eat until after his MRI, when he had a bomb pop.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
What matters now is that he's doing alright.
