that is very old xd, use this one https://github.com/pcm720/retroarch-clover/releases and put "retroarch.hmod" on the "user_mods" folder and then put the cores you want (inside the zip there is a folder called cores and there is where you get the cores, here is the list https://github.com/pcm720/retroarch-clover then you open hakchi and on the top tab you select "Modules" then "Install new modules" and select retroarch and press "Ok" and then you can add your games on the hakchi program
Il file retroarch.hmod dove si trova ?:wacko:

My gba folder is roughly 50 mb. 6 games. And it works. What are your biggest folders?

I'd have to double check, but I know they're all well less than 30MB. And I'm only running GB, NES, and SNES...so size wise it would only be worth looking at SNES. But I'm pretty confident it's not a size issue. It looks to be with the custom folders and how the program or system reacts when flashing. Clearly that made a difference for saxman717, and I'm just dying to try it out on mine in a few days.

Original order of folders that led to permanent C8 brick everytime the Sega folder was selected:

Gameboy, Gameboy Color, GBA, NES, SNES, Sega

Order of folders is now:

Sega, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, GBA, NES, SNES.

Everything remained the same besides the main menu folder order, including sub-folders. All are under the 30 MB limit.

Placing a space " Sega Genesis" vs. "Sega Genesis" bumped it up to first in line. It looks just fine in the menu, as though there is nothing extra there but just the text "Sega Genesis".

Still am wary about this fix and whether the C8 error will be triggered in some other way.

Also am wary about number of saves after pumping 294 MB worth of compressed ROMs onto the system (separated into less than 30 MB each subfolders).

I've tried putting 12+ SNES save states on there --- works fine with snes9x2005.

With 294 MB worth of compressed games, should I severely limit how many saves I create on the system? Does every save state create its own copy of the game (e.g. a 4 MB uncompressed SNES game will produce a 4 MB save state?). With close to 300 MB worth of games, are there any cautious strategies that can be followed to minimize risk of C4, C6, C8 errors?

You shouldn't have save state issues, but if you cleared some games it would be safer. That said, if you have too many saves, you will know right away because it will give you a C4 when trying to make that save. The save won't go through, and if you reboot the system everything will work fine (until you go to make another save). It won't be a permanent error like we got with the folder/flashing issue.

Just learned the C4 was due to a bug with SNES9x2010 creating ridiculous 5MB save states! That is why the number wasn't consistent for everyone, it was based off the number of other games installed.

I'm trying to get the Rastan Arcade to work. I tried with both mame cores to no avail. Maybe it's my file? Anyone have any suggestions? Screen goes black the goes back to the main screen.

@luismtzr.

MAME2003 SETUP:

Here's what you do
(I put all the files needed in one spot for convenience in installing mame):

1. Install the retroarch module first.
https://github.com/kaz321123/Mame2003-Samples/blob/master/retroarch.hmod

Download and put this file into user_mods, and install the module from the Hakchi2 menu>Modules>Install Extra Modules.

2. Install Mame2003 Module::
https://github.com/kaz321123/Mame2003-Samples/blob/master/mame2003.hmod

Download and put this file into user_mods, and install the module from the Hakchi2 menu>Modules>Install Extra Modules.

3. Then let's say you want to play pac-man (you know you do)...

Pull the pac-man zip into the program, choose 'as archive'.
On the command line, put this (or something similar-your directories might be slightly different): /bin/mame2003 /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-Z-OYAEV/pacman.zip
(a space needs to be after 'mame2003')

Mame 2003 uses Mame romset 0.78.

I would like some help with the Neo Geo games... I click on the game, I go to a black screen for about 3-5 seconds and then go back to the main menu... (I have tried Windjammers as well as Baseball Stars 2)

First off, I have tested the roms and the bios in NeoRageX to be 100% working, so I know I don't have a corrupt rom (maybe it needs to be a certain size for retroarch?) or bios image. However, what bios image retroarch looks for may be the issue...

So my zipped bios image is 132KB and contains the following files:
neo-geo.rom
ng-lo.rom
ng-sfix.rom
ng-sm1.rom
uni-bios.rom

I have also tried compressing with 7zip and get neogeo.7z being 79KB (which also doesn't work)

Game in question is Windjammers at a zip size of 3950KB file name: wjammers.zip (I have also tried uncompressing and using 7zip for this as well with no luck)

Both wjammers.zip and neogeo.zip file are located in: \games\CLV-Z-HJDZR

fbalpha2012_neogeo.hmod folder contains:

fbalpha2012_neogeo_libretro.so in \user_mods\fbalpha2012_neogeo.hmod\etc\libretro\core

neo in \user_mods\fbalpha2012_neogeo.hmod\bin

contents of neo are:

#!/bin/sh
exec retroarch-clover fbalpha2012_neogeo "$@"

I have edited the command line argument to read:

/bin/neo /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-Z-HJDZR/wjammers.zip

I have installed extra modules as well as uninstalled them to reinstall them as well as tried in the root directory of the nesce as well as in a folder...

I am using retroarch v 1.4.1

All other modules that I have added work flawlessly, so I am unsure as to why I can not get this to work...

I went as far as flashing my original kernal and doing a factory reset (did this mostly to get rid of snes9x2010 savestates)

All of my mod files have come from: https://github.com/pcm720/retroarch-clover (and are the most recent)

Any and all help on this would be greatly appreciated as for the life of me, I can not figure out what I have done wrong or am doing wrong...

Thanks in advance for your help... I will not be able to respond right away, but will give any and all possible solutions a try and will report back when I am able to...

This issue is NOT a path error and isn't a brief black screen before returning to the previous menu. It's not ROM-specific or even console/folder specific. the problem produces a black screen that stays that way until you unplug or turn off the system. Then, upon reboot, a PERMANENT C8 error is displayed. By permanent, I mean that no amount of reboots or unplugging will fix it and get it to refresh back to the Language setup page, like other errors do after a reboot.

I managed to "fix" this problem by reordering my main menu system folders such that the Sega Genesis folder was first instead of last (by adding a space " " before the word Sega). This solved the problem. I have no idea why, and that concerns me..........

@saxman717
Hello saxman717; im having the same issue with the permanent C8 error; but i only have 3 folders (NES, SNES, MAME) being NES the last folder in the menu and the folder that i selected when i got the black screen and then the C8 error everytime that i turn it off and on again.
did you just changed the folders order and got fixed?
Thanks

Awesome job. I like them a lot. The retro music was a nice add for the GME core. I would have Cave Story alone or with the NX Engine core. And add controllers on the NA SNES. If you change MAME to Arcade people could use that for cps1 and 2. Or have something else for those cores.

Arcade IS MAME. The other option is final burn :)
About SNES you already have the controller in the other picture, use that one :)
About cave story you can choose amonge many good pics: https://www.google.it/search?q=cave+story+cover&source=lnms&tbm=isch

Which folder is bigger snes or mame? Make one of those folders sync first. Then nes then the other folder. Make sure nes is the middle folder. Or try making the nes folder sync first if it's syncing 3rd and is having problems.

1.22 for receiver? I think you might have flashed it with the retro receiver drivers (non nes classic) they are different due to the protocols it uses to connect. That is probably why it did not work. I don't see a 2.73 beta driver for NES30, just a 2.72 beta 0.

I maybe wrong but you may be using incorrect drivers. Unless it is a typo, then not too sure. I am not using any native NES games from either original 30 nor added any using NESC emulator. Mine are all running through RetroArch. The settings save, when I set it the first time for any of my CPS1/2. They worked fine with SNES, Genesis, and GBA as well. I have tested so far, SFC30/SNES30/NES30 controllers all seem to work fine between all of the games after the initial rebinding. These are beta drivers, so it could still have issues. You may get more assistance directly from 8Bitdo.

Please let me know if it was a typo for the driver numbers or if you used different ones.

On a side note. I am trying to see if I can get some Overlay borders added in for NES, SNES, Genesis, and handhelds to work with in the build of Retroarch. I saw that there were some already done before. Just seeing if it can be added to the hmod.

Hi Kobe,

I followed your instructions on page 320 of this thread. I have an 8bitdo nes30 controller with retro receiver. Every time I go into the retroarch menu with the 8bitdo controller, I can navigate with the wired controller, but when I try and set the bind with the wireless controller, retroarch crashes (hangs then goes to a black screen) and I have to reboot the NES by unplugging the power.

Do you or anyone else know why this happens?

Thanks

Yes, changing the order of the folders fixed it. If possible, try to have the NES folder be first in line and see if that fixes the problem.
