Hello, im attempting the Brazilian method, and have all files downloaded, and extracted. I was thinking how easy of a method, but ran into a mind boggling snag. I plugged in my usb thumb drive to the wii u, for formatting in the appropriate
manner, with the wii off. The drive does show up on the wii u as a drive when i look in the wii settings, so all is fine there. When i plug it into my mac, i get a message to format and wont let me open the drive. I see the drive, but i cant open to load the files necessary. I have Windows parallel, so ive attempted in Windows and MascOS, same results. All i want is to be able to drop in files after the wii u format. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Please re-read the Installation section under the Instructions heading in the OP. It starts with:
Installation
  1. put the game files (.app, .h3, title.cert, title.tmd, title.tik) on your SD card, in SD:/Install/ folder
You copy the downloaded files to a FAT32-formatted SD card, put the SD card into the WiiU, then run the wupinstaller program on the WiiU. That installs them onto the WiiU-formatted thumb drive. You don't connect the thumb drive to your computer.

So what about simply injecting the encrypted key into another ticket using a hex editor, would that work without exposing the original consoleID? sorry for the noob questions
I don't know the ticket format (but it's easy to learn, I just never read about it). I think there are different things to change to make a ticket, like the TitleID.
You can forge fake tickets by creating an empty file, puting only the required data (AESkey certificate, titleID, titlekey, maybe that's all?)
at least, that's all that tool needs (titleID and encrypted title key)

you don't "need" a CFW or signature patch to play "all" the installed games.
Some games need it, some don't.

As a rule:
if you install a game originally dumped from a DISC format (discs are not tied to a specific console), and from the same region than your console : NoCFW or sigpatch or regionpatch needed.
if you install a game from another region, you'll need region free patch (old regionhax, or more easier : haxchi or Simple Signature Patcher if you don't use CBHC)
if you install a game from eSHOP format, you'll need signature patch (because eShop games are tied to the console used to bought that dumped game, so you need to "trick" your own console to not check if it's tied to yours)
if you install a DLC you didn't bought, same as eShop : it's a tied-to-console Title and therefore will require signature patch.

The signature patch is required to install and launched a "bad signed" game (tied to another console or completely fake ticket*).
The region patch is required only to launch a game from another region (you can install them without any issues without the patch, but you can't launch them)

Patching information:
If you want only signature and region patch, but you don't have or don't want to install Haxchi : you can launch "Simple Signature Patcher - return to hbl" before installing a game, or "Simple Signature Patcher - return to sysmenu" before launching a game. Both program are doing the same thing, the "return to xxxx" is only a convenience to return to where you want for faster access to your next action. Note that "return to HBL" is done quickly.
If you have haxchi installed, you can auto-patch the system menu by keeping B button pressed when launching haxchi, then you can install/launch your game.
if you have CBHC installed, you do not need to do anything, it's always patched at console boot.

* you could use fake tickets for DISC based games, but legit and clean tickets exists for those games, so they should be rare. if you ever encounter a forged ticket for a DISC game, you'll need signature check to install and play the game.

Additional detail here (yeah, it's like a treasure hunt, rendez-vous on next checkpoint! beware of loops)

So, I have Mass Effect 3 ready to install via USB, and I did get it from, well, that site, and despite the OP insisting that all is ready, the ticket isn't properly validating. Is there a way to validate the ticket or find out if it's legit or not, or that it really is the right one? Not asking for a download, but a way to use a hex editor or something to see if the ticket is the problem or if Wup Installer Y Mod is freaking out :P Like do I use HashCalculator maybe?

Mass effect is released in disc format, right? he shouldn't need sigpatch if the game is released in disc format, someone could dump his own ticket and it will work on any console.

I don't know if there's a way to validate tickets without just trying to install the game with WUP installer.

Without getting into actually validating the signature against the data in ticket, the sha1 of the whole US ticket should be 6800818e3b7c3b79534def76fa017ca9da5ed36c (and the one on that ticket site matches that, just in case yours doesn't.)

I copied the first few app/h3 files and the tmd/tik/cert to my sd, and wupinstaller started installing it on my non-sigpatched system, which means it got past the normal ticket checks.

That is so weird, as it matches that SHA-1 exactly, so IDFK is going on as the game doesn't require sigpatches as far as I know, and the rip was specifically for USB Y mod method/Brazilian method, so I've since contacted the one who uploaded to that certain site. Everyone else has had success, I don't know why the bloody thing fails 500 MB in the installation. Ugh.

I just don't know what I'm doing wrong.

If it's failing after it starts loading files, you should look at the hash of the files, not the ticket. Check your files against this sfv (rename the txt extension to sfv.) If you find any that don't match, that's where your problem is.

What's weird is that it gets partway installed, freaks out and says that the ticket files, cert, etc are invalid, and I can't figure out why, and there are around 70 some odd files, how would I check the files against this? No idea how to use SFV.

Edit: Found QuickSFV, some files failed the check, so obviously I need to redownload the corrupted/messed up files. For some reason the four files were missing. Downloaded them. Weird.

The Brazilian method works great for me.

Nirvana would be to be able to install to USB from a stealthed USB drive and be able to bypass copying to an SD card.

Might be possible in the future.
it might even be possible to do it on the same USB drive! Dimok is working on native FAT32 support for WiiU.

even more nirvana would be to just copy the game to USB plugged to the computer and see it on the console, but you'll still need proper ticket/channel install.
I'm wondering if we could just install a ticket with wup installer, and have the console read the game on FAT32 USB.

I am intrigued. I assume native FAT32 support would be possible from HBC but because the way the Wii U likes to take over and encrypt any USB storage device that is attached the drive would have to be stealthed like for the vWii.

There's a version of WUP installer that has ftp access but it is too slow to be usable from what I've read. I may want to play with that when I get some free time.

And I thought games stored on USB (or internal storage) are encrypted with a console unique key so you can't plug the hard disk into another Wii U so I'm not sure how even with the installed ticket it could read the game from a FAT32 USB unless there was a CFW layer that handled the encryption/decryption on the fly.

Anyway, very fun times for the Wii U. Almost like the Wii 8 or 9 years ago :)

the drive is encrypted, the files should be too, but the FAT32 support store the unencrypted files (the same you see when using ftpiiu or wupinstaller)
that's only assumption based on what dimok revealed on his thread. we will know more in few days.
